I'm gonna get my first tattoo, and since that's the one you've gotta give a shit about, it's taken me up until recently turning 25 to realize what I want.
I think I'm gonna get the sticky bomb icon (below) tattooed on my right shoulder.
https://orig00.deviantart.net/8356/f/2015/059/9/6/mvm_upgrades___demoman_by_menaria-d8ju2h6.png
Wondering if anyone has advice about how I should have it done (i.e. outlined but left empty, filled in completely black, etc)
Thoughts? Also I'm pretty white.

the stickybomb design you linked is actually the one we tried to use for ours, however even at this size (which i thought was quite large) the spacing of the gaps was too intricate and there was concern it would bleed through, so we had to change the image. just a thought.

I recommend giving a shit about any and all of your tattoos and not just the first one... or consider not getting them. I personally don't understand purely aesthetic tattoos. It's good if it looks nice but if there's no meaning behind it, even if only a bit, it seems wrong to me. My artist customized the sticky bomb and added a bit of space between the fine parts to avoid the bleedthrough/running together. It's still a very tiny amount of space and could become less clear over time but it's really not an issue. If need be it can always be touched up later and they can add white ink into the gaps to clear them up. When the artist first applied the 'temporary tattoo stain guide stencil thing' it was in outline form and I considered keeping it like that. It would have looked good but I decided to go ahead and fill it in anyway. I'm literally never going to regret my tattoo(s) unless it becomes the new symbol for neo Nazis or something crazy like that.

My personal tattoo rules... These are just my opinions and preferences. Note that I'm not really a huge tattoo enthusiast just a casual hobbyist. I definitely lean on the conservative side of things.
-It has to have some meaning to me. Nothing just purely aesthetic.
-No traditional blue tattoo ink color. Something about it seems trashy to me.
-No names, no text. Avoid letters and numbers. Stick to symbols and images which are naturally more abstract.
-No tattoos anywhere that business casual attire wouldn't cover. No hands, face, neck, forearms. I like being able to hide them with simple dress. I don't even have to take the chance of explaining it to someone who doesn't like tattoos in most cases. While this may be changing or already has changed, before, having tattoos showing was committing to being blue collar forever, or a musician, or otherwise "alternative".
Otherwise I have a bunch of arbitrary personal taste rules about what looks good vs bad in what places and on guys vs girls but all that stuff isn't important.
