TF2 Skins dropping FPS?

Hello Teamfortress.tv,

I've seen several threads complaining about FPS-related problems ever since the Gun-Mettle update, but I haven't seen one with my specific problem. The problem is that whenever a player in my current server equips a skin, it drops my FPS to 40-50 ish. This only happens when they have the weapon out, and there's also a noticeable difference between certain skins. Therefore my question: 'Would it be possible disabling skins like we can disable hats?' Obviously there's some sort of problem with the textures of the skins or something alike, and I would really like this fixed since it's been a bummer for my gameplay ever since the Gun-Mettle update.

Thanks, b4stian

I might be wrong but I believe the last time this issue was brought up, even disabling skins didn't remove the fps drops.

I don't know whether that's been fixed, or what other directx problems arise.

DirtyMortjust run dx8 if skins are that big of an issue for your frames

I run dx8 with a maxFPS config, which keeps my FPS stable except for the usage of skins.

on dx8 the problem is less noticeable but the fps still fluctuate a bit
theyve been busy updating passtime and other crap no one cares about, fps fluctuation is a low priority to the dev team
welcome to team fortress 2

I'm pretty sure when skins were released there were a lot of people using dx8 complaining about skins dropping fps.
