Definitely start reading books. And I mean normal, physical books, not eBooks.

I myself enjoy playing bass / drawing while listening to music. Also, going for walks with a podcast or something.

I know people irl that have spent so much money on some that are just displayed in plastic cases on their desk. I wouldn't get into keyboards because of that rabbit hole it creates.

Building keyboards and soldering in general is great fun.

Soldering and learning more about electronics is fun, but it can be costly.

Pretty much trying to get into weird sized or mega custom boards is expensive, and group buys and a pain and expensive. It's super fun but I really wish I had saved the money for something else. But what I learned from the building has helped me in my job sometimes.

if you play, learning about/fixing guitars and pedals is something pretty interesting, you learn a lot about woodworking/wiring/soldering and finishing a product and having a nice good-as-new guitar/bass is really satisfying. (paging beelthazus about actual luthier work) Plus having a guitar you built or restored yourself is a cool talking point!

honestly learning to repair anything is really informative/helpful, and can teach you a lot. Find whatever interests you (PCs, instruments, electronics, furniture, appliances, etc.) and learning how to fix them can be fun and help you gain more in-depth knowledge about that particular thing

What's wrong with ebooks? I love ebooks. so much more convenient than paper. I also don't have to get up to turn the light on/off when I want to read in bed.

I go through phases of what I like to do in my free time. Random things from my past include:

• Graphic novels - research, purchase interesting ones, reading, support local comic shops
  
• Podcasts - crime history ones are what I spent a lot of time listening to, but also random taboo sexual topics that are interesting
  
• Classes/learning for fun - I took a comp sci class (I'm already done all my schooling, it was just for fun) to get a small foundation to learn coding and built my PC last year
  
• Learning how to cook - really cook delicious things. I try to have a paleo focus (protein + fat), but also try to learn how to combine different foods to make fantastic dishes without a recipe. This is great.
  
• Plan future vacations/trips - weekend trips near where you live to far away trips. Planning them can help make them more feasible.

Overall, especially when I was younger, I tried to do things on the side that would help make me a more well-rounded adult that were also interesting - it really could be anything you can research and get into. Beer/wine, South American history, graphic design, musical composition... pick something you find potentially interesting, or you're just completely ignorant of, and do the research. Eventually, you'll end up with some new hobbies or just learning a bunch of new shit in general.
