My dm is literally deteriorating

So lately I've been in my biggest dm slump so far. I'm literally missing shots that I used to be able to hit with ease, and I feel like my aim is rapidly getting worse everyday I play tf2. It's honestly really annoying and frustrating to know that you're a lot worse than you used to be too. Am I just burnt out on the game and need to take a break?

Wonderful advice.
Often I'll go without playing for multiple days, only to do really well when I come back. I then play the next 1-2 days, only to not do as well.

Slumps happen, and honestly grinding through them is a good way to go. It could be an actual slump, in that you're literally missing more, or it could be a perceptual slump, where you're just becoming more aware of the shots you're missing while actually hitting as many or more than you used to. A perceptual slump is part of the model of skill progression where your skills increase and then hit a plateau. As you gain unconscious competence, your awareness shifts towards the things your competence doesn't cover. Since you're becoming more aware of the shots you're not hitting, it gives you an opportunity to work on them and hit that next skill climb.

tl;dr you're probably just getting better

Sometimes your dm never quite gets back to the same place it was at before. Like you might even get more consistent and become a better player but you still get the feeling that you're never going to hit those 2015 shots again.

I wish I was hitting those 2015 shots again :(

playing against better players is subtle. you dont really notice the shots being harder, but you miss a lot more because you predict them wrong

1) You're probably not as bad as you used to be you're just remembering your peaks and not your faults, also you might be playing against players with better movement etc. don't compare lobby/dm performance to scrims .
2) Don't play with cold hands .
3) Don't eat just before scrims .
4) Make sure your fps isn't arse, i assume my fps got slowly worse over time so i didn't notice it until i played a scrim with cl_showfps 1 on by mistake .
5) Don't take retarded fights because you want to prove to yourself you can win them, just makes things a lot worse !
6) Have something to distract yourself with whilst playing mge/dm so you don't focus too hard on ur kd w/e .
7) If you're not feeling it don't force yourself to play, you're only going to get burnt out and hate playing and risk taking it out on your friends !
8) Leave hentai group now .

That's something important you need to keep in mind

if you're missing shots that means its not engraved into your brain you're thinking too much and you're distressed. chill a bit and play something more fast-paced and fun like quake or something

Seconded. Med isn't really a combat class, but practicing a different skill often gets me over walls. I was:

  • Puglord, hit a wall
  • Grinded MGE, improved, wall
  • Reviewed all my demos, improved, wall
  • MGE, improved, wall
  • Played Pocket a ton (to learn how to manage uber exchanges), improved, wall
  • Practicing movement mechanics daily (Jump/tr_training maps) and improving again

Improving's a process. Winning a 1v1 isn't just having better aim, maybe you just gotta find something else to practice (like initiating fights better, or not taking a ton of low-percentage shots)

(Edit: I'm formatting challenged, sry)

Same here, especially since I haven't played actively.

I notice that after playing well and being able to track shots, all of sudden I cannot do that after some time, and for some reason sensitivity suddenly feels faster, despite the fact that I haven't changed it.

Unfortunately it just happens with age. But what everyone else said about taking a bit of a break is very true, too. I find that with other sports/activities I've done, a brief break and you come back and it comes back to you immediately

how i got out of my slump is stick to a sensitivity, stop playing mge, worked on my gamesense, and my aim came back to me after a month of slumping.

You also installed an aimbot, can't forget that crucial step.

ZestySometimes your dm never quite gets back to the same place it was at before. Like you might even get more consistent and become a better player but you still get the feeling that you're never going to hit those 2015 shots again.

I wish I was hitting those 2015 shots again :(

zesty every time I see you in mge you are playing market gardener soldier against 1500 elo players

Idk why no one is mentioning it but with inconsistencies like this, one of the best things you can actually do is improve your decision-making, create favourable engagements for yourself and so on. It wouldn't be surprising if the way you take fights is literally making it harder on yourself to win them, especially if you're getting frustrated with your current performance and stray from your fundamentals. Set yourself up to hit shots, and it will be a lot easier, and you can just grind the rest out through training mods.

Summarized, observe the fights you take and how you take them, including your mouse movements and terrain advantage. Watching other players and looking at what they do and where they are in fights is surprisingly helpful. If you're gonna demo review, I'd recommend watching more demos of better players than of your own, as you'll quickly notice the same, repeated mistakes in your own demos if you excessively watch them. Look past the nice shots and focus on the fight as a whole.
