very wrong, sorry. Hard pads wear out bald spots that heat up and become sticky to the mice feet as you play. Soft pads will wear the fiber and become frayed and make the sensor skip or mess up when you go over that spot and the slide can change as you use it more and it gets more and more worn.
Cloth pads will generally last much longer, both are fairly easy to clean, but that only gets the dirt off, that doesn't fix the material.
Dave_ has used some hybrids that work so far, but do NOT get the megasoma from Razer, the grit wears off in 2 days and the little pieces of white plastic get jammed up in your mouse.
