as unskilled once said,

"lumbar support is one of the greatest things you can do for your back health long term"
the lumbar is the part of your lower back that dips in

Search for "Drafting Chair" if you want a chair with good back support. they tend to be more ergonomic than typical computer chairs.

you want something with a seat short enough that your back will be properly supported, and generally you want the seat to go as high as you can without your legs physically hitting your desk (and keeping your feet on the ground). having adjustable armrests or no armrests can also be good since those often put more stress on elbows/shoulders unless theyre perfectly positioned.

ill personally shill modway since ive had a good experience and theyre not crazy expensive, plus they have literally every dimension marked on the page.

Steelcase leap 2 is goat. I sit on absolute clouds ever since I got it.

If you're lucky you can find a used one for half price (if not broken, it's not any worse than new)

chair

I'm 6'1 and this chair is super comfortable, they also sell this chair with vinyl/leather replacing the mesh for 20ish more dollars but I'm not entirely sure they sell to Europe.

Steelcase leap 2 is comfy but I had issues sitting in it for long periods of time, I felt like the back didn't go high enough and I actually started getting a bit of ache sitting in it (I'm 6'3")

Me too, did you adjust the lumbar support? I didn't see it at first but now I have it all the way up and it feels great.

I lucked out so hard with this. My work was about to throw away a Steelcase Leap from ~2004 because it was old and covered in dirt but otherwise 100% fine (no tearing, nothing was falling off, original parts, height/arm/lumbar adjustments all still worked). Asked my manager if I could just take it home and they were like "why? thing has been sitting for over a decade... whatever go ahead." vacuumed it for like 2 hours and it's basically brand new. The chair costed like $2000 when the company bought it...

Easily the most comfortable chair I've ever used.

what about the scandinavian "chairs" where you rest your knees on and without any back support? If your back hurts, that might be sign weakened muscles this kind of "chair" could solve (if you're against the yoga ball for obvious reasons)
