I'm hosting 5 weekend cups from now until October 15th, starting with an Ultiduo cup this weekend. Each one will have a 50 key prize pool, provided by STN Trading. I'm also going to be casting it over on the TFCL Twitch channel, and will have several special guests on the stream to basically talk about their involvement in the TF2 community, and why they love this game, and its community. The most notable guest IMO is a developer from the TF2 demake, Gang Garrison 2. They're about to celebrate their ten year anniversary.
The goal with these cups is to basically get some activity going while TFCL is being recreated. It's also a bit of a celebration of TF2 itself, sort of like the decade.tf project. I took over that project last year, but never got around to hosting the event. Hopefully these cups are able to capture the spirit of decade.tf, and the spirit of the game we all love. Now more than ever, considering recent events...
Signups for Ultiduo are open now. I'll update this thread once the other schedules have been released.

ultiduo is a pretty good choice for the first cup, should be easy to full fill it up!
also kinda stoked to hear what the creator of gang garrison 2 has to say, that game was crazy cool!

Moist_masterdo we get a badge?
Yup. Not sure exactly when the medal is going to be made available, but we're basically designing a new one just for the cups.

Given that those are weekend cups, shall we consider them being revolved around NA solely?

They're primarily NA, yes. However, if you wish to join from EU or another region, you'll be able to. Just take note that the servers are in Chicago, so you'll be at a ping disadvantage. That could be especially troublesome for something like dodgeball.

The Gang Garrison 2 developer will be a guest during the dodgeball cup. September 8th.
Also updated the prize pool a bit. Ultiduo and bball will have a 50 key pool. Everything else will have a 54 key pool.

We only have 8 teams for the Ultiduo cup right now, and need to get at least 8 more for the bracket tomorrow. If you haven't signed up yet, please do so as soon as you can. The bracket has a max of 32 teams, but we definitely need at least 16 for this thing to go smoothly.
https://tfcleague.com/bracket/ultiduo-weekend-cup-1/
Also to clarify some information.
Each match will have a winlimit of 2, instead of the usual 3 that was used in the main season. Also, Saturday is a Swiss format, so everybody should be able to play at least four games on Saturday. Sunday will be double elimination playoffs between the top 8 or 16 teams, depending on how many teams the cup gets.
Servers will be provided, and are mostly located in Chicago. We may have a few out in LA as well, but that depends on how many west coast teams sign up.
Thanks, and good luck to everyone competing!

TFCL are giving v!s's team third place because they forfeited the grand final against b4nny. They did not inform the players that they would be penalized for not playing out the final, and did not inform them that the other team playing the grand final wasn't a showmatch as they assumed when checking the stream before heading off. They won the semifinal and decided not to play because they figured they were at a ping disadvantaged, tired, and playing against one of the historically best ultiduo teams in the game.
How is this unsportsmanlike???

Real talk, we did this shit with banny in UGC some seasons ago. The GF's just turn into a meme fest and everyone hates it for like 45 min. Not playing is better then subjecting people to shit TF2 for the sake of just playing. Especially when the games are a forgone conclusion.

Baiting a tournament into not having a grand final to cast is a dick move. In ESEA if you try to forfiet grand finals for any div I am reasonably certain you would catch a ban. They knew it was an NA tournament, so dealing with ping and time zones is to be expected. If this was an NA team you probably wouldn't have noticed, but if you really think it's fine to forfiet just bc "it's b4nny" that's pretty uncompetitive. There is a reason I have never tried to play European tournaments before, and I honestly consider it pretty exceptional that the euros kinda own NA in this gamemode, but you can't make excuses for them.

1. We've made it very clear that this tournament was primarily intended for North American players. As mentioned higher up in this thread itself, we specifically brought up the ping issues, and said how V!s may be at a disadvantage if they were to participate. They joined despite this.
2. The Grand Finals were always scheduled to take place at 8:00 PM Eastern. The schedule was made available the day the cup was announced. We expect for any and all teams, no matter their region, to be available at the scheduled times.
3. To forfeit a grand final match because the team you're facing is known to win, is not a valid reason to forfeit a match. By doing so, you're disrespecting your opponent, the league that's supposed to provide casting, and in general, just wasting everybody's time. Now, if the match was heavily delayed, and the players were unable to play the match due to this delay, then a forfeit or even a reschedule attempt will be justified. However, this is not what happened.
4. In regards to casting. We were live when V!s decided to forfeit the grand finals. He provided zero communication with any of our league administrators. The only reason we knew that he had forfeited his match, was because one of our casters noticed him say so via in-game chat. When we tried to reach out to him, both V!s and Syncing were offline, and unreachable.
5. It is not very sporting to refuse to play a grand final match simply because you're afraid of your opponent. Even more so when you don't even notify the relevant parties, and just leave them hanging with zero communication. What V!s demonstrated tonight was very unsportsmanlike behavior, and cannot be justified in any way, shape, or form, as proper competitive sportsmanship. It's in very poor taste to not show up for a scheduled event, and blame it on "them being better".
It's better to play and lose, than to not play at all.
I'm going to write up an official statement later, and also mention our stance as a league, and why we ruled in the way that we did. I'm also going to modify our rules to make them more clearcut and concise in regards to forfeiting a grand final match. The updated ruleset will be used and enforced for all future cups, tournaments, seasons, and league events.
The final ranking for the ultiduo cup is as follows.
1st. Primary (daffodil, delpo)
2nd. End Game (b4nny, nursey)
3rd. Memes For The Win (v!s, syncing)

Yes, we are very well aware that this tournament is in NA. It is common knowledge that we would win against b4nny with 50 ping, but me and SynciNG decided not to play against him with 150, it is absolutely pointless because there is only so much we can do.

How is not playing the match and giving an easy win 'disrespecting my opponents' and 'wasting everybody's time', when it's exactly the opposite? Do you mind pointing at one league that enforces rules on when forfeiting a match is allowed and when not?

https://gyazo.com/263e9b33d1617e3b3504f5fa4687c400 SynciNG went to sleep right after the lower bracket finals because he is a normal human being. I was online both on Steam and Discord all the time. And I told you that on discord at the end of the stream. You never messaged me. And you still dare to say the opposite here. This is mindblowing.

Every single one of my actions were 'legal' and abided by the rules of the league, and you are trying to convince me they were not according to your own perception of how dignified those actions were, even considering the fact that I had not been informed about any 'consequences' afterwards.
If you are going to run a league where the human factor is the governing conduct, then you should really rethink the purpose of your rules page really, since it is not taken under much consideration as could be seen by everyone.

This, unfortunately, was always the case. When we were in Grand Finals 2 seasons ago against b4nny and we got to choose a server, we wanted to play on a New York one but Sidular just told me 'b4nny doesn't want to' and gave me a connect for another location that is closer to the enemy (consider the fact that we would have 130 ping and he would have 80 and his med 5 on NY). Even though we were the home team at the time and, according to the rules, this is how we were supposed to proceed, turns out the pivot around which the tournament is revolving is b4nny. This case is not different in any way since Sidular went for a consultation from b4nny on his stream regarding what actions should be taken if a team forfeits, despite the fact that it's an option on his own website. Irony is real.
