the combat seems good for once, which is a change for CD Projekt Red.
i'm quite excited to see what this game has to offer when it is released

The guy explaining the rpg elements sounds like a supervillain explaining his master plot
i've been waiting for this ever since that first teaser. the wait pays off.

In my experience the combat in TW3 was good for the first few hours but after that the game became insanely easy and devolved to you just spamming one or two abilities constantly for each fight.

Maybe on most of the difficulties yeah, but the hardest difficulty is ridiculous. You have to learn how to dodge and Parry well or else you're just dead. I won't lie and say it's perfect because you can just spam Yrden, attack a few times, use it again off cd and repeat (doesn't always work but you can get away with this a lot) but besides that it probably has the best singleplayer combat in an RPG. If you don't spam Yrden every time you can, the game nearly forces you to git gud at parrying/dodging, timing your attacks and using the appropriate signs all while trying to not get flanked constantly (that only applies to packs rather than one/two enemies). Maybe you're fighting 3 humans but one is in the back with a bow, you either gotta time your dodges and attacks on the other two do you don't get fucked by the bow or make your way to the guy in the back and deal with him first.
I don't know. Sorry I just love TW3 lmao

Thats... uhh... questionable.
The combat was probably the weakest part of the game, far and above.
As for CP2077, been a CDP fan since I played TW1 back in 2008 and I can only imagine where this game will go.
Probably will define a generation of RPG and open world games.

CP2077 will set a new standard like TW3 did. TW3 ruined all RPG games for me, save perhaps for Skyrim. I fear the day I'll finally download and play CP2077.
As for the topic of combat in TW3, it's insanely easy if you get the Gourmet perk and spam Quen (especially Alt Quen). Make it more challenging by following the game's pointers. A certain type of enemy is weak to this type of bomb? Use it. Don't destrain yourself to Quen + Water + Dodge/Roll just because it's easy. It's immersion/roleplay, I guess.
Things like using Samum when fighting fiends or Moon Dust when fighting Wraiths made the game super fun for me.

For as much as I enjoy TW3 you'd think I'd have written Quen instead of Yrden

you might not have had very high standards for role playing game games in the first place

Certainly looks interesting - i was excited from the trailer all those years ago, glad to see they've been hard at work.
its tight, probably will be quite demanding so i prob wont be able to play it; looking forward to yet another Twitch playthrough
finally an rpg without god awful combat mechanics eh?
I know it might ruin the game for some people, but is it so much to ask for split screen co-op with my homies?

the game is definitely focused on a singleplayer experience. that being said cdpr has said mp is in r&d at the moment

TW 1, 2, & 3 are some of my favourite games, but combat was absolutely the weakest part in all three games. That's why there are very popular combat-improvement mods for all three games.
Also I bet there's going to be a TW3 easter egg where you see Ciri and Avallac'h warping in for a few seconds.

CDPR did state there won't be a surprise appearance from Ciri and Mysterious Elf. The most we might get would be a random character on the street mentioning them or something.
I would absolutely love a Ciri cameo though. I wish...

say what you want about how hype you are about this game and how cool it looks, it has the shittiest, laziest title i've heard for any game since "VVVVV" or "Serious Sam" and even "Touch DIC"
i really like how they managed to make the world seem so dingy and lived in but with spots of vibrant color instead of the standard brown and grey dystopia every other game features
