NA drama is so much more entertaing than EU drama. Also sandbaggers are scum please actually go to your right div instead of ruining it for others and making it less enjoyable for them.

There's lots to be discussed about this topic (sandbagging) and how its effects on our playerbase are incredibly nefarious but I think ESEA is doing everyone a service by beginning to enforce.
Beyond and even before prizepools, sandbagging hurts growing players the most, it creates false, localized maximas in skill rating that end up blocking most player's paths. Skill rating isn't even anywhere near linear, climbing it organically is a challenge by itself, you're making that challenge a whole lot worse.
If you're going to defend your right to not have to try to win in League play, you're gonna need convincing arguments. If you're doing this for the money, I'm honestly sorry for you.

no, I'd argue it makes improving easier despite making winning harder
imagine if u went into invite as an IM move up having never played against an invite player before, would make the first invite season even rougher than it already is. I never gave a fuck about sandbaggers when I played open or IM
and i just realized im sandbagging this season so this comes off as me defending myself. ayylmao

This is a fair statement, however I think that if an IM team wanted to practice against an Invite-tier team, they should do it in their own scrim time rather than having no choice and facing them during league play. I would also argue that IM sandbaggers contribute to the widening of the skill gap that exists between Top IM and Top Invite, inviting more teams to do the same and never attempt to reach the highest div.

mustardoverlordsacMonkey brain safrix says: BUT THEY BE GETTIN PAID THOE.
you should probably take a second and think about how you come off when you say things like this
my first draft of the sentence was: BUT DEY BE GETTING PAID DOE, thought of it it sounded more like ebonics than generally American, edit it to a way that blacks wouldn't write it, to a way i could hear my inner flyover state voice trying to "debate" with that sentence pronounce it.
Still get "called out". Some nerds you can NEVER satisfy...

Why? This is a game, some people like to call it an esport. If they can secure themselves a prize pool, they would do it. There is virtually no incentive to move to invite if you can grind money off ESEA with 1st place IM every season. Forget about wanting to get better - would you rather improve in a videogame (only in a specific gamemode in addition) or put your hands on actual real money, especially without much effort? Because I can only make use of one of these

I could go out, get a job doing ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING, work one day, then intentionally get fired and I'd still make more money than I'd make playing a season of IM, investing hours into matches and scrims, and then waiting months to collect.
I really doubt anyone is doing this for the cash.
