Will insects be the main food of the future?
no, people don't just eat food for sustenance, people eat food for enjoyment, and insects aren't particularly enjoying to eat

It's not true, insects are just culturally stigmatized and will cease being so with increased exposure. People said the exact same thing about lobster in the 19th century. Insects are very nutritious and a bit healthier than other kinds of meat, and also extremely sustainable to produce (some also taste good when properly prepared). They will have major cred with hipsters and environmentalists as soon as properly advertised products hit the market. Sure, they most likely won't be "the main food" (grains will be, as they always were), but they'll most likely be at least as accepted as sushi, and possibly as much as other meats.
Similarly to sushi, they will go from gross to trendy to acceptable in the mainstream. How quickly this will happen is up to companies and smart marketing. New legislation in the EU just became effective this year and makes it legal to sell insects as food now (some shops were already doing it before and got away with it but now it's feasible for larger companies).
I wrote a big paper on this last year.
