the demo player has a smoother built into the client, but it is massive aids to use.

if you add the launch option -insecure to the game when using things like HLAE, the game will prevent you from joining VAC secured servers. For CSGO, they even added it to automatically swap it in and out

console's post is good advice - if you use HLAE with lawena as well you never have to change your game's launch options.

wonderlandedit: one more thing, you won't be able to see yourself in a pov demo, so you would have to use a teammates pov if you want to record your character model

this is incorrect. if you use the command 'thirdperson' you will be able to see your world model in the smooth.

if you are serious about making very nice cinematics though consider using SFM with imported "demos". I would be happy to teach you how to do this.
