So I've finally gotten into The Beatles and I'm having my own Beatles phase right now :D
What's your favourite album/song by them and why?

eleanor rigby
maxwell's silver hammer

revolver fav album overall
Revolver for me. “I’m only sleeping” is such a strangely perfect song, and reminds me of myself.
Also RAM by Paul just after the Beatles broke up is an amazing album.
Of all their albums I've listened to, I like Sgt, Peppers the most. There are the hits on Please Please Me which I really love listening to also.
My favourite song of theirs is This Boy, just because it was the first song that got me into The Beatles. I found it as I was going through a recent, very rough breakup and had it on repeat all day long. It would often make me tear up or just burst into a crying fit at the time. Such a sweet, simple tune <3
fool on the hill is my absolute favourite, but the rest bellow are epic tunes aswell.
while my guitar gently weeps
michelle
eleonor rigby
misery

nowhere man

some of my favourites. If you want I have a spotify list containing all my favourite beatles tunes.
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.
People should check out The Grey Album, it's the Beatle's White Album miXed with Jay-Z's Black Album.

They have a lot of great albums, but Abbey Road is one of the few where I'll always want to listen to the entire thing. It feels very cohesive.
white album is a bit of a sexual if i do say so myself

This. I feel like some songs on that album aren't even worth listening to if you don't listen to them in the context of the entire album

There is a very pretentious Music critic called Piero Scaruffii and he thinks he should be allowed to marry 12 year old girls and he made that famous quote that has become a meme due to it's pretentious nature and complete ignorance.
His quote "Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe" makes me laugh especially hard and shows his complete lack of understanding of Classical Music.

Rubber Soul, but the NA release not the international one. Grew up listening to a vinyl that my grandfather stole from his college roommate and can't listen to the international version
