Alright so recently I bought a new processor and motherboard and I have been having an issue with my fans running super loud while I play TF2. The moment I open or tab into it the fans go crazy. The moment I tab out of it the fans are quiet as ever. I did some messing around with settings and noticed that changing my fps cap makes a huge difference with the noise level. The problem is that to get the fans to the point they were before I got new hardware I have to limit myself to 30-40 fps which I don't really like. Is there any way I can change fan or TF2 configurations to make them run quieter while still having the fps I want? Thanks in advance!

Check your temps while playing. Your processor might not have enough thermal paste and is overheating causing your fans to work harder.
If that's not the case, there are programs that let you change the fan speeds and you can set a max rpm that you don't want it to go over.

Are you using the heatsink that comes with the CPU? If so, those things are usually loud.
There almost might be something wrong with the integrated heat spreader having bad thermal paste.

Just get a program to turn the fan speeds down. If the temps are too high then you should keep them at high speeds but its its like 30 c only then its fine

my cpu does this too try turning multi-core rendering off my fps stays the same and my fan speed is much quieter.
if this isn't it then try and check if theres a cool n' quiet mode for your fans or w/e if there is put that on.

Go RTFM and looks for the bios settings to lower the fan speeds.

It's the paste between the cpu and it's cooler. It increases the thermal conductivity.
The only tool i've checked out before that is able to cap the RPM (Rounds per minute) on fans is SpeedFan. Please be careful while using it and only go down small steps and test your system's stability and the temps after each step. Instead of loading up a game use Prime95. It will make your system run at 100% load. To get accurate temps out of it I use and recommend CoreTemp.

I think its pretty obvious that its just your system is getting too hot and the computer is turning up the fans automatically

I just bought a new 8350 and my fans are loud as shit on it but thats because when I reapplied thermal paste after cleaning I fucked it up a bit.
