Hey guys, I've recently started playing comp this year as roamer. I have experience in one season of UGC steel and RGL open. Now that RGL season 2 is over, I still want to keep playing comp and continue working on my gamesense/positioning for the next season with my school team. The thing is, literally none of my teammates play the game for anything else besides competitive leagues for our school team matches, so they won't be touching the game anytime soon.
The issue is, I can't really find any way to get good scrims/practice in. TF2center is full of people who go afk or report themselves for some reason or get rolled, and all the other PUG websites are inactive. I've tried joining a few discord servers/steam groups for PUGs, but they usually either go dead in a week or are full of higher leveled players that I have no chance of competing against, and also learning/improving at the same time.
So besides jump maps/MGE, how can I find meaningful scrims to play on and be able to harness my gamesense?
Thankz :)

watch the game, watch vods/casts/demos/streams literally anything you can, you can go into sizzlingstats or demos.tf and download a demo anytime and just watch, observe how people play and it will make you better a lot faster.

you may want to consider playing on a team of people who have the same goals as you

casted matches can be entertaining but they do not focus on one player. make sure you watch a lot of demos too.

I wouldn't usually just repost what someone else said without adding anything of my own, but I must re-iterate how important I think this is. If you want to play scrims during off-season but your team doesn't want to because they are not as keen, then you will likely be better suited in another team. Besides that I would recommend grinding MGE/DM and watching lots of roamer demos (roamer povs with comms are even better). Getting an experienced player to review your own demos is also great.
