Anyone know some weird strange single player games that is not Assassin Creed, Skyrim, Fallout ETC... I enjoy jrpg, hack and slash, anything really... Just something with a storyline that I can get into.
Bastion is an amazing game you should check it out.
I really liked Far Cry 3, the intro to the game was so sick
Borderlands , Bastion, Don't Starve(not a story game but hack and slash), Doom, Mass Effect Series, Torchlight, Trine, Witcher Series, 40k Spacemarine(draggy, buy on a sale)
Sniper elite v2 cause im retarded and i read the title as "A good sniper game" and im sticking to it
Indigo Prophecy
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

Dark Souls is pretty good. Not so much of a meaty story as it is a fleshed out world.
RagorismWe don't talk about Invisible War, though.
invisible war honestly wasn't that bad, it's just in comparison to the others, it was shit

GIANT HALF ASSED NERD POST INCOMING
Going to add to the old games list that you should play:
Neverwinter Nights (D&D style RPG like the aforementioned titles)
Icewind Dale (^)
You said no Fallout, but if you haven't played Fallout 1 and 2 they're completely different (and much better IMO)
Warlord's Battlecry 3 (RTS with some RPG elements. Have a hero character gain levels throughout the story and find equipment, choose one out of a bunch of races, cool stuff.)
Ultima VII (old as fuck point and click RPG, it's still sick though.)
System Shock 2 (If you like Bioshock's atmosphere it's a sure pickup. Plays more like the original Deus Ex than Bioshock though.)
Ignore all these titles if really old graphics and/or bad resolution options without mods are unplayable by your standards. Newer games that are good are:
Shogun 2 is really fun, you can be a videogame metsuke with bsc and I.
Witcher 2 is probably one of the best modern RPG's out there IMO. Witcher 1 is great too but falls more in the first category of old-ish games.
Dragon Age: Origins might actually contest for that. I spent so many hours in that game, if you're looking for a game that's easy to be immersed in play that one. DA2 is shit don't buy it.
Mount & Blade: Warband I found to be really fun with the army building aspect. I find all melee combat games to be really clunky and this one is no exception, but it was still a lot of fun. Warband is the best of the 3, it gives a lot more features than the first game, and doesn't fuck up the entire atmosphere and balance by adding guns that can randomly end the game for you.
Penumbra and Amnesia are a legitimately entertaining experience if you haven't watched the game to death already through all the fucking let's plays full of people screaming.
STALKER is a fun post apocalyptic shooter. Think of like Fallout 3 but less Bethesda.
All the THIEF games are fun. First 2 are really old though. I saw that they're making a new one, so you might want to try playing those to get you hyped for it.

audiosurf, beat hazard, sonic allstars racing, organ trail, pressure, hell yeah, and final fantasy 7 have all kept me entertained when not grinding my face against the millstone of tf2.
If you are in the mood for visual novels (ignanock was fully translated sometime ago) that's also a good way to kill time, if you're not quite that anime I would suggest To The Moon.
rollercoaster tycoon and heroes of might and magic are always super cheap on GoG too

harbleuThe Witcher 2 was great
I actually just finished this a couple days ago. I thoroughly enjoyed 1 & 2. The major change in combat mechanics threw me off though. I was sort of disappointed, but only a little. For one Shani was my lover in Witcher 1 and that bitch fled and secondly, there wasn't enough side quests. I heard the 3rd will be amazing, I sure hope so.
As for good single player games, I would suggest: Skyrim, BioShock Infinite (just beat it, amazing game 10/10), AC series, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Witcher 1 & 2, Tomb Raider 2013, Hitman: Absolution andDarksiders 1 & 2 (hopefully Crytek doesn't screw up the 3rd if they actually do buy the series).
All of these except Darksiders 1 & 2, Witcher 1 and the earlier AC games are recent ones that I've played, but they're good nonetheless.

Holy shit STALKER I fucking love stalker. OP if you have never played stalker you should definately play it. I've beaten each one at least twice (the first one approximately 6 times), and it is my favorite game ever. You HAVE to play it.

One of my favourites is a game called Ib, its a horror/puzzle game that was made in rpg maker. http://vgperson.com/games/ib.htm Has a decent challenge to the puzzles and some really neat jump-scares.
i really enjoyed mass effect 1-3 until the last 5 minutes of mass effect 3
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale. It's so cute. You play an adorable little girl who runs an item shop, selling your merchandise to adventurers and going into dungeons to collect things to sell!
People already mentioned Bastion and Don't Starve, but I think they're both worth reiterating.
Maybe get Morrowind and install some nice mods to update the graphics? The main quest has so much more depth than its TES: IV & V successors.

Go old school, play some point and clicks. The Monkey Island 1 and 2 special editions are really good.
You could download a PS2 emulator and go for old JRPG's. I'm playing Ar Tonelico right now and I like it a lot. On that note I need to finish Disgaea 2
