SheepylolOK so is overwatch actually any good? Is it worth me pre-ordering and do they give out beta keys to people who pre-order? I haven't seen much of the game so I don't know if its worth me buying now or not. Also will it actually kill TF2 I have noticed a lot of top tf2 players are gonna move to it. I think Tek even said at lan that he's going to overwatch now along with many others. I feel like i'm not done with tf2 yet like I still have 2 more seasons in me but I don't want all the top players moving to OW yet so I can still have solid competition for the next few seasons.
As a pub game on its own its very fun and has the potential to be a very solid esport that could be what TF2 wasnt.
Notice the world potential. If you've been watching any of the early tournaments it is currently a TOTAL clusterfuck. There's no way to tell who is killing who, what the state of the objective is, and who is doing well.
There's also a ton of visual clutter and many of the basic settings needed for good FPS competition like more fine-tuned sensitivity and graphical settings are pretty much absent.
Overall, the game is very fun as it stands with lots of potential to be a very good esport title.
It needs a lot of work though and it really depends on if Blizzard is going to pull their heads out of their collective asses or if they'll essentially abort another potential esport title from the get-go.
Edit:
Also I'll go ahead and say if you're looking for that super high skill ceiling mechanically based class shooter like TF2, OW is not that game. It will never be like TF2 outside of the classes and their similarity to TF2 design points.
The quake-like movement and aiming components are simply not there. There are OW unique mechanics that can be learned but in terms of the pure level of mechanical skill needed it is very very dumbed down.
This will please or displease a lot of people but it's simply the truth. Games are made to appeal to the widest audience possible and it's likely that a true class based shooter will likely never exist as an esports title due to the complexity needed.
