#39 ESEA-O S:18 Playoffs R1: An exercise in futility in News

Nothing is wrong with Owl in thinking that and its justified considering the strong players and experience from his roster, himself included. Especially considering a lot the relative lack of experience from the Muffin Men roster.

Kanon's post is more them circle-jerking over the win. However its a pretty understandable circle jerk if we look back to some posts like this

Mr_OwlblendtecMr_Owlyou should put all 15 of you on one open team you might make playoffs next season that way http://play.esea.net/teams/85721

http://play.esea.net/teams/91596

http://play.esea.net/teams/84720

two teams who wont win a mpa in playoffs and one team who will only win anything at all because open is a joke nice

Owl just has consistently underestimated and undervalued teams like Muffin Men with no respect at all to their talent. At least he manned up and showed class in the end. Good game to them both and to Animus/Syops.

GG to all the matches played last night and to Animus. It was a shame we had some roster changes last minute but you guys played very well, gl in the rest of playoffs.

Also to just give one further consideration,as I do think we need an hour restriction to help pug quality and restrict alts:

There are plenty of pubbers with well over 8k hours in the game. But if we had an hour restriction of 800 they could still join and perform maybe only moderately better than someone with 500 hours but has only played TF2Center.

The earlier players begin to compete in a competitive enviroment the faster they learn and improve. I think we could all agree that someone that has played 800 hours of TF2Center compared to someone that has played half the amount of time in PugMe or the old IRC channels would be probably be worse.

There are plenty of people that compete in ESEA CS pugs with less than 800 hours in the game. We should take into consideration what our longer reaching goals with a more accessible pug system and not just cut out everyone we don't think on paper is good enough.

WaldoThe goal is not to give new players experience. That is the job of tf2center, and they do it as well as seems to be possible. As a replacement for pug.na, the goal is to allow decent (open+) players to be able to play 6s outside of scrim time or without a team.

I'm in total agreement. I'm just saying there can be players with less hours than 800 that could compete at a mid open level or higher and could contribute to quality pugs.

Not saying it is likely, just saying we should be aware of it.

I feel 500 would probably be more reasonable so that newer players could begin to gain experience.

But 800 would ensure the quality of pugs for everyone. So I guess there is a pro and con to both.

Dave_dangoTo respond to a few things

On the topic of bullet, I've already banned him on many steam accounts. There isn't too much I can do beyond continuing to ban him when he has a seemingly endless supply of alts. The current admin team is jodd, rikachu, indust, and pharaoh, if any of them are online please ask them for bans or restricts. I've been dealing with most of this from my phone so it's a bit difficult.

That said, keep posting any alts that aren't banned and I'll get to them when I can.

About the server crashes (no one has mentioned this, but I feel it's important), my current host doesn't even provide crash logs without emailing them. On top of that, I can't seem to replicate it offline despite it happening to frequently online, so it's been difficult to try and fix this. I'm in the process of moving to a VPS so I can get these things fixed, hopefully I'll have the time to do the move tomorrow. Bear with me as I work through these problems.

Why not just have a minimum hour requirement? It won't fix it but it will at least reduce the number of alts.

How many hours would be the minimum hour requirement? If you were to spitball?

#34 Looking for some good comedy shows in Off Topic

Most have already been mentioned but I'll just echo since you really should check them out.

Bobs Burgers
Parks and Rec
Arrested Development
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Also they recently added the animated series Chowder to Netflix and I personally loved that show.

Edit: I nearly forgot Rick and Morty. My current favorite series.

DanceNumberIts amazing how often we see bans dished out in ETF2L for various things but I can't recall even 1 in the past 2-3 years in ESEA. Paywall barrier? Probably not. I'm guessing the client is just useless.

ESEA bans hundreds of players from CS and its other games all the time for cheats. The TF2 playerbase is a lot smaller. Plus they likely havent updated their client to detect more recent TF2 cheats in years.

This is something that did actually need to be posted and I'm sure everyone that was planning on supporting them should read this. Thank you Digresser. I'm pretty cautious about this now too.

#29 What is wrong with u guys in The Dumpster

I actually don't know who played demo in my one match in IM because I had left the team by that point because of real life issues so someone used my login info.

In additon I've now made playoffs 2/3 seasons I've played this game since this is only my third season of playing while having around 700 hours less in this game than you after pubbing for far too long.

You've played six seasons and made playoffs 4 times with your team carrying you every season. I've had more impact on every team I've played on than you probably made on your mother's vagina when you were born.

But still, that was an impressive shit talk. I do seriously enjoy reading your posts.

Edit:
I in fact counted wrong and Owl has made playoffs 4 times counting this season after his many contributions helped bring his team to their current record. Thank you for the correction.
