- so few of those can actually be changed while connected to a server
- yes, copy and paste to each class config
- difference: nothing in regards to tf2, configs are just scripts
thanks :D

ive been doing some reading on cl_interp and rates etc. and it seems like this is what i should use:
hitscan class cfgs:
cl_interp 0.033
cl_cmdrate "67"
cl_interp_ratio "2"
cl_lagcompensation "1"
cl_pred_optimize "2"
cl_smooth "0"
cl_smoothtime "0.01"
cl_updaterate "67"
rate "100000"
projectile class cfgs:
cl_interp 0.0152
cl_cmdrate "67"
cl_interp_ratio "1"
cl_lagcompensation "1"
cl_pred_optimize "2"
cl_smooth "0"
cl_smoothtime "0.01"
cl_updaterate "67"
rate "100000"
so my question is: do i just paste these lines of text into the class.cfg folders?
like this? or is there another way to do it?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.
another noob question: whats the difference between a config and a script?
fatswimdudeBluok thanks, also, do i reset my tf2 back to default by deleting the cfg folder and typing -autoconfig in the launch options? or is there a better way of doing it?yes, but make sure you have cloud sync turned off as well
ok thanks
yttriumbe sure that you're copying over tf/cfg/config.cfg and that it isn't being overwritten with steam cloud sync - config.cfg contains all current tweaks from the default, and without your old config.cfg it won't cancel out the tested autoexec
ok, that might be the reason it didnt work the first time because when i tried to backup using my tf folder i had cloud sync enabled, but i disabled it before i tried to backup the second time
NoFapTry disabling Steam Cloud sync during your testings.
it is disabled
fatswimdudeYou probably have settings in the new config which are not being overwritten by your old config. For example, if you have "r_drawviewmodels 0" in your new config, but not "r_drawviewmodels 1" in your old config, replacing the new with the old will not set your viewmodels to display again.
You would have to reset your TF2 to default, and then put the old tf folder back, then it should take it back to where it was before. I just did this after messing with a crosshair switcher.

I want to try out some custom configs but i want to make sure i backup my tf2 correctly before i do so.
Ive tried making a copy of my tf folder and then downloading a custom config. and to restore my old tf2 settings i tried switching out my new tf folder with the custom config with the old copy of my tf folder. But i would still have some of the settings from the custom config.
Ive also tried making a backup by right clicking tf2 in my game library and pressing backup game files, then downloading a custom config. Then i tried to restore the backup by going to the steam tab in the top left of steam and clicking backup and restore games then choosing my team fortress 2 backup. but that didnt work either, I still had the custom config installed.
So basically: how do i backup my tf2 correctly? and how do i restore that backup?
Any help is appreciated, Thanks.
