MeematFor me, I don't think there was a noticeable change in my performance. I think the biggest factors in performance (equipment wise) would be a stable (high) framerate, a high refresh rate monitor, and a good mouse + surface.
I switched to a mechanical board kind of recently and I really really like it. Typing feels a lot more satisfying and my typing speed improved by like 20 wpm, but if you're just looking to increase your game performance there are better uses for the money.
Nah, I wasn't really looking for increased game performance I just wanted to know if it did, and if some of the advertising was just hype/true or something that wasn't mentioned. I already have all those other things though 120Hz, 200+fps, g400, and QCK+.
AyRno keyboard is gonna magically make you better at the game
but i only recently switched to mechanical (cherry browns) from regular and it feels a lot more comfortable in general
i type relatively lightly so the switches feel great when i do that
however when i game i press keys hard as fuck so it doesnt change as much there (still helps a bit though)
I didn't think it would make me "magically better" maybe slightly like .2% better. Which is why I am asking.
idk I just kinda wanted to know just how big the difference was, or if that it affected gameplay in a way that I may or may not like, and if their was any buyers remorse because of how much it cost vs. how well it performs.
It's about time I get a new keyboard (been using the same one for the past 7 years and some keys are starting to not work)
And I was wondering is a mechanical actually worth the extra money? or if they really are that much better than a regular keyboard.
some questions
Does air-strafing become "easier" i.e. does it feel like you're doing a better job at air strafing.
Does A-D spam feel different?
Are there any moments where you find yourself thinking "if I had a regular keyboard I wouldn't have been able to do that, or not as easily, or at least not as often."
etc.
Also pretty sure if I do buy a mechanical keyboard it'll be Cherry MX Brown Switches.

Are you able to play for any longer periods of time, or that your fingers feel more relaxed?
marmadukeGRYLLSi am assisting in getting this thread to the 1k post mark
^this
also what happens if Open is only 1-2 teams short of the requirement?
kivesperseQuik question. I have benq xl2411t 144hz monitor and I play tf2 at 1024x768 and quake at 800x600 resolution. Do I need to make custom resolution things in order to get 144hz because I dont play at native res.
Platypuskivesperse-snip-I don't think so
You 100% do not need to add any custom settings, 144Hz works at all resolutions (at least the common ones) below and at 1920x1080 with a dual link dvi cable.
crossfiredo 120 hz monitor put more work on ur processor/computer? will i get less fps in tf2 when using a 120 compared to a 60?
No.
Just be aware that if you current monitor isn't already 1920x1080 you might experience worse performance.
KhakiAre there any substantial differences(besides res/screen size) between these two ASUS 144hz monitors?

Not really.
Only thing I can think of is related to the screen size 1920x1080 on a 27inch monitor means you're going to see individual pixels alot easier which isn't great for picture quality.
I would like to point out that extra 2 seconds of minicrits means an extra shot or 2 of Mini-Crit flak coming your way when a pyro airblasts you, even if you don't die he still has 2 more shots. #VALVEPLS
Actually I was just informed it's actually possible to get all 4 shots off in that 5 seconds with ease. :(
why am I oddly tempted to buy a shit ton of those 20 bundles of laptops and sell them for like $5 each...
Twitch changed how they provided video service about a month ago, this has been happening ever since for a lot of users. That and most stream delays are at best 20 seconds if not more.

Does your ticks received per second suddenly drop below 40, and then burst well over 67?
breloom"Mainstream" tf2 players will never play seriously competitive tf2 regardless of what ruleset you give it. I have met more than my fair share of people who expressed interest in playing, played with my group in pugs, etc for a couple of weeks, then disappeared, completely never actually ending up on a team (this is through MULTIPLE groups of friends, pub communities and otherwise). Most players who do stick it out and join a team never persist past the point of UGC silver. They simply don't have the time to invest into chasing invite dreams like the typical tftv poster does. Anyone who is competitive and loves tf2 already plays competitive tf2. Everyone else has either moved onto the next hotness (CS, Dota, lol) or will never ever play in ESEA open.
I disagree, their's still plenty of players out their who would love to play competitive but think they're not good enough or they just simply hate the rulesets. You forget that TF2 is probably the 2nd-3rd most popular FPS out there after CS:GO and maybe BF4.
RoodYMR_SLINreinstall your gameJust did its worse
Edit actually the game freezes i think my hardware is fucking up
I've been having a similar issues
things I did
things that had little to no effect
-Reinstalling TF2
-Defragging
-Changing TF2 Settings
-Changing Mice
things that had an actual effect
-Reformatting and installing windows 8.1 (I had win7)
Now it's much more noticeable, but it's less frequent and I have been able to narrow it down to either A. My ISP or B. Routing
Just curious though, Turn on Net_Graph 1 and when you experience these "lag spikes" does your ticks per second drop down to like 40 or lower, instead of the usual 66/67? and during the following second immediately jump to 80+ ticks per second?
-edit-
nvm just looked at your screenshots you're having the exact same issue with the ticks per second.
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=28alrbr&s=5#.Us0CavRDv8p <- you spiked to 100+ ticks per second, and was likely rebounding from a drop to about 20-30 ticks per second probably just a second earlier.
I must ask who's your ISP, and if you only experience this on Dallas, Denver, and LA servers?
Stochast1cThe sensor setup for Zowie mice does not play well with many surfaces. Generally, only black cloth mats play well (although the puretrak talent works for mine). If you think your mousepad is fine, call Zowie about your problem, they are a pretty decent company.
I use a Steel Series QCK+ black mouse pad, and I clean it 1-2x a month.
mixtape-Air duster worked wonders for me. I recently got one too and it started fucking up a bit when tracking. Turns out my pad was pretty dusty so i just got my air vaccum and blasted both my pad and sensor. Its fine now.
You just reminded me I have a air duster lol, I'll go try that now.
Their's also alot of other variables with just monitors alone. cause I guarantee you will see very different results from these match ups
60Hz 1ms GTG vs 120Hz 5ms GTG
60Hz 5ms GTG vs 120Hz 1ms GTG
60Hz 5ms GTG vs 120Hz 5ms GTG
60Hz 1ms GTG vs 120Hz 1ms GTG
can't forget their's also monitors out their with 12ms, 8ms, and 2ms GTG as well.
I have done -some- eye/play test on several monitors
60Hz 5ms
60Hz 8ms
75Hz 5ms
75Hz 2ms
120Hz 1ms
144Hz 1ms
and I have to say by and far the biggest difference in monitors is the pixel response time in terms of gaming, with 120Hz being only a minor-moderate boost in itself over 60Hz. While 1ms vs 5ms gtg is literally night and day, thank you to my roommate for letting me use his BenQ to learn this :/
that and other small things like an FPS Cap is detrimental to some systems for reasons I can't explain and if one player has it on and their system doesn't agree with it they will not perform as well as they should.
Recently I bought a Zowie FK preemptively assuming my G400 will die sometime soon, and today I just started noticing a weird issue.
Problem:
My Mouse does not track like it should, actually this mouse tracks almost as well as a 400dpi $5 mouse I got for a short period of time about a year ago. I am noticing significant pixel skipping at very low movement speeds at all 3 DPI settings. I am running windows 8, and I reused my g400 to test if it was just the OS and it is not.
What I think the problem is:
I think the sensor might be dirty which is kinda odd cause I got this mouse like 6 days ago, on a mousepad I had just cleaned and have never had this issue with my g400. Though the little plastic covering (which I assume is their to lower the lift off distance) makes it difficult to clean. I even tested this by blowing into it and trying to get condensation to build up to see if I could get a similar but more noticeable result, which it was. Problem is I am not sure how I should go about cleaning the sensor or if their's something else I am missing with Zowie FK mice.
