#10 Forward spawn doors do damage now in TF2 General Discussion

I took 40 once because I had my escape plan out and the door mini-crit me, our med also killed a scout with a spawn door tonight which was cool.

Goldsrc is Hl 1's engine, so you probably got a bug where you somehow tried to install the old engines files for linux on a non linux machine.

#9 so process is an official map now in TF2 General Discussion

I think most of the fixes are going to be on Badwater/pl maps like the engie spot on the roof by the 2nd cap that some people consider a bug. I don't think they're really gonna be changing any legit hiding spots, just silly ones like those (I hope).

#30 IGL - Why haven't you signed up? in TF2 General Discussion

Also, just out of curiosity, do your servers have sizzling stats/some sort of stats system in them? That along with a system that users easily download stv's of matches would be really nice.

trying to click on a matches results right now just brings me to a 404 page from here:http://www.playigl.com/team/383-Dedoris

Having something similar to ESEA's match results/stats/stv dl page would definitely be a plus.

#29 IGL - Why haven't you signed up? in TF2 General Discussion

Prizes.

Basically there's no real reason for Invite/im/high open teams to join because there aren't many good teams signed up. Many people have said this would be a nice replacement to scrims, but since there aren't any higher level teams signed up it'd just be a waste of scrim time for most teams.

Also I'd say 90% of teams already have a server, and IRC is way faster for finding scrims since you don't have to use a web interface and can actually pick and choose who you want to play with on the spot, one right after the other rather than have to go through the process of scheduling for a time.

If there was something to play for I think you'd get some decent teams to sign up, which would in turn create more of an incentive for teams to sign up and get actual practice/experience playing in the ladder/league. The live option would definitely help as most teams laugh at the idea of setting up a time for scrims.

#10 Gpit Tonight in TF2 General Discussion

remove it, its pretty bad to play.

If we wanna replace it with another spectator friendly map I'd say go with another koth map, since I feel like those are the next best maps to watch and not entirely awful to play.

I personally just don't enjoy the a/d style just because it feels like 1 mistake can cost you the entire map/round. It seems a coin-flip a lot of the time, which isn't good for competition.

dMenacemake it easier on yourself, just make turris except the floor kills you.

pretty much this, you can just make a map that's an area with a floor and then anything outside the arena/floor kills you. You could even use mge mod if you want a scoring system/queues/multiple arenas that are playable at the same time.

MGE also has the ability to make explosions push people harder than they normally would in the x/y/z direction (see turis, makes you fly higher from rocket physics) so if that's needed I could add an option to mge_spawns.cfg to let you control that or just turn the higher knockback on for this particular arena.

#57 The Unpopular Opinion in TF2 General Discussion
Allealr4ptureBecause you're crying to the heavens about valve ruining 6v6 when they have nothing to do with it. If you read the thread you'd understand this was all supposed to be for HL, and some people in the community decided to make this about 6s. The only involvement from Valve in changes to 6s is Robin saying he personally doesn't care for it.
... I'm saying that's NOT going to happen. And yes, this thread IS about 6v6. Unless my monitor's upside down and all the 9s look like 6s. Killing is talking about the potential fragmentation of the 6v6 scene due to multiple formats, which ultimately leads to the disintegration of the community.

I think were just arguing about different things at this point. He was trying to point out that valve never asked for us to change 6s, nor was it even confirmed that changing the format would at all interest them or make them support us.

Everyone else in the thread is just theory crafting about what would happen if the league actually did start up with the new rule set, which is kind of jumping the gun since we don't even know if valve wants this in the first place.

#47 The Unpopular Opinion in TF2 General Discussion

True, I think the whole thing is kind of a mis-communication and probably a knee-jerk reaction to Robin calling the 6s meta stale, but the idea of drastically reworking how 6s works to make it more pubber and spectator friendly is one that's been thrown around a lot to try and get more people into 6s, and some people are using Robin's statement to push their argument.

Also the idea of changing 6s to get valve support was something that wasn't even presented to valve yet so everyone flipping out like its actually going to happen is kind of silly. We don't even know if they actually want us to change it or changing it would get them to support us/pay attention to us.

Did you not see the thread where enigma was proposing converting all of 6s over to a new format with no class limits and no weapon bans? I'm pretty sure this was a response to that.

Edit: see this -> http://pastebin.com/G2kxjMVR Enigma said in the thread the idea was to change all of 6s (including esea) over to the new format once we figured out a good way for it to work. (If we could ever get it to work)

#40 The Unpopular Opinion in TF2 General Discussion

maybe because the stock game/the way it was made is shit, so we made it better by creating class limits/weapon bans. CGS didn't make CS better with their changes, they made it worse, hence why it killed it.

TF2 changes were made by the community, with improving gameplay in mind. CGS made changes with only spectating in mind, which is why their changes were bad.

The whole idea of changing the game to make it more viewer friendly is exactly the mistake CGS did and its why people don't want the same thing to happen to tf2.

People are scared that if we try to change 6s to meet valves idea on how it should be played, or to make it more "spectator friendly" or "pubber friendly" it will turn into something that is shit/un-fun/slow paced/bad, which is what tf2 used to be before we added all the restrictions on it.

People act like we didn't try to give using utility classes a chance at being a standard class/used all the time. Like we didn't try to incorporate as many unlocks as we could. We did, it just turned out doing those things made tf2 into a boring, un-fun game that people enjoyed far less than what we have now.

I'd rather do it Saturday afternoon than in the morning but I'd be fine with Saturday morning too if that's what people are used to/want.

Would it be possible to play in the 1v1 sc2 tournament as well since the two seem to overlap a bit, or would I just have to pick one?
