rip my memery not pro enough for this dank meme.
good thread tho.
blehfrom what ive heard, theres one dude specifically in charge of sending the list of people that are recieving medals to valve but hes really fuckin slow about it or something. im pretty sure valve arent really at fault for this one but maybe partially.
leagues don't send valve a list of people who get medals, they just send Valve the item model which Valve then implements into the game, then the person responsible for giving out medals at the league gives out medals by feeding an API the list through their own unique API key.
If you're on Windows 10 just do this:
Right click desktop
Display settings
Advanced display settings
Display adapter properties
Monitor tab
Change refresh rate there.
If it doesn't show up you need to use another cable connection.

I highly doubt there are much more than 15-20 people in the dedicated cabal for this game which is only slightly more than TF2's. Card games don't require large teams until you've basically shipped/are very close to shipping and begin to slide into the 1-2 year foresight period of sets. (if the game is successfu and you're trying to maintain X releases per year/block)
Hearthstone's team was 15 people all the way up to launch, and that's Blizzard who (in California anyways) has six times the amount of employees Valve has.
Assuming there are a lot of people actively dedicated to working on this game is not a very safe assumption tbh, especially with all the big projects Valve already has going on.

It's the greatest TF2 drama of all time and it's not even close.
god i forgot about this
A+
i still remember my clone of the woot demo meme
rofl who the hell are these fools voting mackey as the best soldier? At what point did smart play and good aim become overlooked in favor of random mouse flicking and offlcassing every other life in between constant failed jumps on the enemy medic. Obviously a better teammate than enoryt or b4nny, who actually attempt to do damage rather than just cleanup garbage frags.
here is a fun game: download a mackey demo or stv of his team and attempt to count the number of shots which are aimed. Place bets with friends in mumble over how many times he will rocket jump into the other team to make up for his lack of dming ability. I know it's tempting to spec yz50 carrying him but take the time to truly observe this soldier and try to decipher what exactly he is attempting to do for his team at any given time. and if you still think he is good go to steam, right click tf2, select "delete local content" and take up a mw2 gaming career.
it wasnt rly good drama per se but when vhalins defense for his VAC ban was that it was in Plants vs Zombies was also pretty good.
fuegoThis cant be real, what the fuck is this guy
this is tip of the iceberg bro, guy posted like that for years on gotfrag
my favorite was when they finally let him play some invite scrims and the resulting thread from that on gotfrag rofl
dod3fdid he kill himself?
nah he's still alive afaik

i had almost entirely forgotten tenaciousg existed. it was nice.
why have you done this :(
never 4get
that is awesome i hope they ascent to the grand finals
#11 if you actually read everyones (really good I might add) replies you would figure out that not only is there not really a video of this but why there isn't
syphWas this the only kind of valve sponsred thing comp tf2 has seen?
It really depends on your definitions here. If you only mean competitive events and only mean Valve as a corporate entity then AFAIK yes.
If you mean anything competitive oriented and/or just individuals from Valve then no. The former would include the joint Valve & High Level Competitive Player private beta which largely resulted in these two updates: August 13th, 2009 & September 15th, 2009 as well as helped push the GRU/Gunslinger/Quick-Fix to how they wound up being when they were introduced.
Also this was like 4-5+ years ago but I'm pretty sure an individual Valve employee donated to one of the LAN team funds, I might be misremembering on that though.
hawkieldHenry HarrisValve sponsored Highlander Community Challenge
wait what?
A long time ago when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, some people thought Ruwin was a girl because they were gullible, Gotfrag was the home of NA competitive TF2, and everything was a meatshot 8) the concept of a Medal cosmetic didn't exist yet and Valve supported the ETF2L Highlander Challenge by giving people medals for playing in it for the first time.
It's pretty much solely responsible for that tournament having 800 teams & 10,000+ players, the largest tournament TF2 has ever had, and responsible for enticing a bunch of players into competitive play.
To this day I still do not understand why ESEA didn't immediately try to adopt this. There's clearly no restrictions that were hindering it from a monetary standpoint considering buy in LANs or donation funds get medals.
LPKane was the guy with the soft spot for TF2 and to me this just seems like the easiest business decision of all time, you pay someone a little bit of cash to make some models for some medals and then you're effectively advertising ESEA inside TF2. Literally every time one of your players kills someone or plays the game you're basically advertising you exist to players in-game. There are people who would pay up and play to get these medals, especially if they looked at all decent.
Konceptdoes the same thing about input lag apply to freesync and its applicable monitors?
it's basically the same thing (adaptive sync) except nvidia essentially drm locked it behind their gpu's.
the only really unique feature g-sync has is nvidia's special frame collision avoidance tech and it does not resolve the input lag issue no (just reduces stuttering more).
