#37 Unlocks and effective strategies? in TF2 General Discussion

You can dead ringer bomb certain last points like Badlands last by running backwards onto the point (scout disguise jumping backwards and looking around like crazy works pretty well), hold the dead ringer out, drop disguise by going friendly Spy disguise, then if the Demoman dets you insta drop cloak and you will cap the point basically instantly unless there's actually someone on the point.

i was told this strat was too gay.

#4 TF2 Update 5/20/13 in TF2 General Discussion
vilei think i'm a little late, but it looks like huds don't break anymore.

HUDs only break if they change something in the HUD files tho.

Got me mega interested in playing TF2 religiously, made me interested in comp when I originally hated the idea, and made me realize Scout isn't the shitty class I thought he was when I was a newbie pubber.

Plus the song rules.

#15 Street Fighter IV! in Off Topic

Now that I've sorted out a lot of life issues, I'm thinking of playing again, is the population actually big enough to find games 24/7 on PC?

Hey, I already love the HUD to the max, but as a somewhat avid Arena player (prolly got like 2000 of my hours in just Arena), why did you remove damage/healing from the Arena win panel?

Can you make an option to enable it at least? It's actually kind of an interesting stat to know and one of the unique parts of the Arena win panel.

#110 Steam Trading Cards in TF2 General Discussion
SearchlightI got an invite left over, so if you'd need a consultant to make the investment of .15 $ on the Market, just add me.

Also, will anyone take those Tf2 cards off me? How am I supposed to complete a full set without paying? Right now, I got Pyro, 2 Snipers, Heavy and Spy, so first come, first serve, I guess.

Trading/paying are the only ways to complete a full set.

#51 TF2 Update 5/17/13 in TF2 General Discussion

a) Backpack Expanders being 1$ rules, bought 1 and now I have a page for each class + a page for crafting.

b) I got a Robo Tyrolean in the 1 crate I opened, which was the only hat I wanted out of that crate. I'm happy.

brownymasterDarkNecridbrownymasterIdle for Foil cards.

They're selling for like $70 on steam market.

There's no need as you get cards very quickly and can only get a certain number of cards per game.
So make an idle server that finishes games really quickly?

You get cards from having the game open, but I mean, you get the cards very fast (I got pretty much all my drops for TF2 in about an hour for example) and you can only get foils from the limited amount of card drops you have, so there's no much reason to actually idle if you only have to play each game for like 1-2 hours really. I guess maybe for HL2 if you've already beaten it.

Since you need to be Steam Level 10 to get foils, it's not really likely to farm foils on alt accounts.

#50 Steam Trading Cards in TF2 General Discussion

#57 Not on the new system, it's based on levels only. I linked mine before and now since I'm level 9 I only have a 295 friend cap. That means if I did have 300 friends prior to this I'd have to remove 6 people to add 1 dude.

Anyone who linked FB before and isn't Level 10 is getting screwed.

#9 Need help getting TF2 from a long time ago. in Q/A Help
skyrideSpikeHimself over on ETF2L is probably the man you need to talk to. I don't know if he still offers the service, but afaik he tracked down every version of TF2, so he has a big library of almost all versions.

I'd appreciate it if you (or anyone who knows this guy) could help contact this guy and see if he has February 24th, 2010. D:

#7 I get that much, just considering how many versions of TF2 there has been it seems like it would be incredibly time consuming (especially since I have awful internet) to find the very specific version I need.

I'm guessing when/if we do get the right version, it'll need to be cracked too right? Cause won't it by default try to launch through Steam and be forced to update? Or does that not happen if you run it via executable directly.

Platypushttp://thepiratebay.sx/search/team%20fortress%202/0/7/0

IDK if earlier versions will work, but there's quite a few on TPB

They won't, this is from the era where TF2's demo's broke at the slightest of update. Old demos only work on very specific versions of TF2. :/

disengageDarkNecridIf anyone has any ideas, please let me know.Have you tried contacting valve?

No, I've never ever gotten a reply from them, so I'm not sure if I would get one now. :( I could try but I don't know who is the best person to send the email to, the main TF team one is probably swamped all the time.

you can download earlier versions of tf2 off valve's servers apparently using depotdownloader. Not exactly sure how to do it, but it's possible.

Seems mega confusing but I will ask if it's possible to get the specific version I need from that.

#2 Need help getting TF2 from a long time ago. in Q/A Help

Welp, after spending like 3 hours on this, I discovered I need to somehow get TF2 to version 1.0.8.3 (the February 24th version) which seems impossible since every link to said updated version or patch to that version is dead. The patch before it does not work since the 24th update fixed a pipe hitreg bug, and neither does the one after (Equalizer nerf)

:(

I basically have STV demos from 6v9: Clash of the Steam Titans - Allstars, which was the very first 6v9 to be ran by Cerious and Nahanni and was also the very first 6v9 to be spread on the SPUF, so pretty much the first time the events went more public than GameFAQs and really took off. These specific games were never recorded or uploaded to anywhere, as the Equalizer nerf update completely broke the demos before Cerious (or whoever) could record them. So this is a pretty solid piece of TF2 history and I'm kinda bummed I can't find a way to make this work.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

#1 Need help getting TF2 from a long time ago. in Q/A Help

So I remember back on Gotfrag there was someone who helped video makers do this because back then demos would break when Valve updated the game every single time, and I'm kinda stumped and don't know where to look really or if this is even realistically possible anymore.

Suffice to say I found some very old demos that I think would interest a lot of people if I could get them recorded. I need to install a version of TF2 from slightly before April 2010. (Ideally February 23rd or 24th, the April 15th patch broke these demos since it was the Equalizer damage nerf patch, February 12th might work but I doubt it)

I already know I'll need an old school cracked copy of Steam to even run it probably. I already tried piratebay and the only versions of TF2 from around then on there don't actually work.

If anyone can help me do this or has insight I would appreciate it tremendously.

#100 Your favorite game(s) in Off Topic

Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3&K, CD. (my first games)
Warsong (I doubt many people know this game)
Phantasy Star IV (while I think the other ones are not very good, this one rules.)
Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, Quake World Team Fortress, Rise of the Triad, Quake 3, Duke Nukem 3D.
Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2
Age of Empires 2
Planescape: Torment (literally the best RPG ever made)
Neverwinter Nights (I heard 2 is good for Mask of the Betrayer, and considering that was written by Chris Avellone I'm sure it is good)
Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen (I hate the ones after this though, the Legend of Zelda-esque gameplay ruled)
DotA (2)
Planetside 1
Guild Wars: Prophecies
Team Fortress 2

I'm currently playing Dragon Age: Origins, Dark Souls, Far Cry 3 and Planetside 2 and those games are all pretty good so far too.
