yttriumComangliaIf you're hoping that you can force some other monitor to do 144Hz prepare to be disappointed. Very very few monitors can be overclocked past 76Hz.
All I'm saying is that the driver does have control, not that it'll help you. I altered my 75Hz panels down to 72Hz to help reduce an Aero bug from mismatched refresh rates, so that they're more compatible with my center 144Hz monitor.
Dave_yes but you don't have control over EVERYTHING; i believe you don't get access to the front and back porch settings which makes it impossible to push 120Hz over HDMI conveniently.

I was as surprised as you, my friend.
holy shit
They must've added that since the last time I checked. That's really nice to have then; so 120Hz via HDMI isn't such a pain to do with intel igps now :o
also I forgot to mention over older versions of HDMI/monitors that didn't support it (think of the older 120Hz monitors). It wouldn't matter what version of HDMI the laptop had if the monitor you're connecting to didn't support it. Hence the need for the custom timings.
as far as overclocking the LCD panels, this is true
but I mean the LCD that came in my gaming laptop came stock @ 60Hz and I've had it stable at 100Hz for a while now
