I like the theory-crafting of highlander, part of the reason why pl is such a good gamemode in my opinion is the potential for new ideas. It's good and fun to do standard holds and rely on dm, but the real strength of highlander is the skill that occurs before Monday. Which is another reason why I like gravel pit and steel. I understand that 6v6 has this to an extent but hl does it better with the addition of engineer heavy and pyro. 5cp doesn't really have that aspect of theory-crafting that the other maps have and is why I don't have as much fun with them. Idk just my $0.02. I like both formats a lot and if you have a preference then that's you, but they both require skill, just different kinds.
Newbie mixes rip nukey "wo airshot" dog. Taken by our Dota 2 overlords.
ninjanickfrom my perspective, i personally prefer 6v6... it's all preference, because they're basically two entirely different games. 6v6 seems more organized, more strategically balanced, and less of a spamfest. Some things are just more appealing to me as a 6v6 player, such as playing with scouts and how much more ability they have in 6s compared to 9v9. The current scout meta is enough for me to enjoy 6s over 9v9 / demo tank / spam / setting up for payload holds / boring sitting around a lot.
This is coming from someone who plays esea-invite 6s and has tried platinum 9v9, so take it as you wish
tl;dr - highlander technically has more going on, but it's too slow for me.
To be fair you played with giraffe. You're gonna have a bad time regardless of format or class heh

If its true that it actually affects who you play week one then 9 times out of 10 it's most strategic to get rolled. Not to be pessimistic but there's only eight weeks in the season and 15(?) teams in plat or w/e. more likely you'll hit weaker teams.
