All of the irritation of Heavy, but with none of the sloth, and the worst part is that Pyro isn't even a very good class despite all of the unlocks making it xXx_CRITMASTER_420_xXx because to DM and put out burst it needs to be in your face while classes like Scout, Soldier, and Demo can two or three shot it while remaining outside of flame and airblast reach. While flame reg is crap and the particles have to travel, airblast range is absurd, instantaneous, and vague unless you actually bother to look up or test the radius.

Airblast radius is not a cylinder, but a Goddamn BOX, meaning he can still reflect spam that is fired to the far left or right of him (radius is approx. five Pyro player models wide).

That is the most anal-pained post i have ever read.

TaggerungInstead of the pyro being based around skill based gameplay and thoughtful player input.
Its focused around weapons and buffs that give the class incredibly stupid and unnecessary stat boosts. People love the class because they think they are playing well while in reality, they are just playing a class with stacks and stacks of ridiculous stat buffs.

Lets do a rundown of all the things that keep getting stacked onto the class
- You can airblast 10 times before running out of ammo
- The airblast cool down rate was decreased in a patch back in 2011
- You can control enemy movement with an airblast, which you can use 10 times
- You can reflect enemy projectiles and cause them to deal 35% more damage...which you can do 10 times
- You can switch weapons 65% faster. Because switching weapons was really hard before.
- You can deal 90 damage on targets that are on fire with the flaregun, good thing you can control their movements and switch weapons 65% faster.
- You can deal a full crit on burning targets with the axtinguisher, lets make it easier with that 65% faster weapon switch.
- Reserve Shooter does 35% more damage on airborne targets, and gives you a 15% weapon switch speed.
- Scorch Shot has a larger radius to set people on fire with the explosion, because hitting people with the flaregun was too hard before.
- Detonator gives the pyro flarejumps just because.
- Phlogistinator gives you back full health and gives you crits
- Powerjack gives you a 15% movement speed increase regardless of health, and gives you 75+ health. Stack that 65% faster weapon switch on there too.

Does anyone actually remember when pyro was an ambushing class? Because back then you actually had to think to play it.

I agree with a great amount of your post. Lets go back to the days when you got +50 health and free crits being behind somebody.
Those were the days.

On a side note, half of pyro unlocks are shit. The other half are overpowered. like beyond degreaser, flare, powerjack and axtinguisher, you're wasting your time with an unlock.

I don't know if ban evasions happened in that time. I only know that, from the thread, he tried multiple times during his first ban.

It is, at best, situational. Roamer or scout are probably the only really viable options for most teams and with most people's laughable pyro DM (easy class heh), it's probably not going to change the situations you use it. One notable thing is that quick-fix completely neuters the normal time when pyro is viable (airblasts don't work against it, so stalling on lasts with it isn't happening, I know I saw an IM team try it against mangachu's team, so that MAY be new information). Like grape said, there are times that it could work with a solid strategy and bit of teamwork behind it. It is an ambush class by design, so you can't really expect it to hold flanks particularly well. It has more viability with the pocket, much like it does in highlander. It can definitely be an asset in full-time QF teams since it can stall ubers (letting your pocket focus things a little better) and deflect kritz projectiles.
Overall, try it against your competition in scrims. You'll have your answer if you try it out.

#37 HRG LAN Fundraiser in TF2 General Discussion

I don't know why people were stupid enough to think this wasn't going to inevitably happen. We knew HRG and Trihards were going to lan week 5. We had 3 (4, kind of) teams that were questionable in going to lan, only 1 of them without a means to get there as far as we knew (unless Klanana was planning on covering that). Maybe AG had that issue too, but i figured they had it covered. Top Guns seemed to be in the runnings at that point and who knows what would happen there.
It seems asinine to attack a team when you knew it was coming.
