#42 Are we doing A/D wrong? in Map Discussion
brownymasterI like how you complain about waiting for people to cap A when it takes 10x longer for people to get into the server than that and setup time combined. It's no better than people waiting at last for the other team to push except there might be a pick (and hey, pushing teams run spy/snipers from spawn at the start too, so it's not like nothing happens).

People getting in the server is neither here nor there. Pushing last is EXACTLY like this, except the only difference is that you don't have a chance to actually re-push.

Also, push maps also have people suicide when their medic dies and they need to even the advantage. Only difference is that medic can safely charge.

Finally, failed pushes cost time, something that matters a lot in a stopwatch/time trial game mode. Attackers always need an advantage so that they can actually get a time. It'd be fucking stupid if the attacking team got any further penalty aside from losing time.

I don't disagree; but it gets stale for people, especially to scrim. The main issue is that they're stale.

The consensus is something only you came up with on your own.

No, the "consensus" is from either the majority of people, or an incredibly vocal minority, like I said.

ukmthanks for that well reasoned argument dr ploxo up til now i thought i had played 7 seasons of tf2 and enjoyed myself on gravelpit every season but your well reasoned argument has convincingly shown that the map did not work and i actually hated it

You bring up a good point. The majority or a vocal minority dislikes the map. This could be because full uber-advantage and a full wipe means you get to chill out and watch for 4 man suicides for another 40-50 seconds. It could also be because you wait around for a minute or so while they go cap A. Who knows. But the consensus seems to be that the format is not suited for maps that don't have reciprocation for failed pushes.

A/D isn't a good mode for sixes.
CTF isn't a good mode for sixes.
PL isn't a good mode for sixes.

Realistically, the only modes that ARE good for sixes are 5CP, koth, and (in my opinion) sd (given a less terrible map would be made, since it's basically BBall.)
Payload could work if it was more concrete (maps had more solid control points and were shorter), and the cart moved unless stopped.
A/D won't work and CTF won't work.

#13 When is it time to quit? in Q/A Help

Sounds like you guys need a tyrone.
Don't trip, keep calm, you got this.
but, in all honesty, you should cut the guy if he's that detrimental. If he's a carry, worse things have happened, you'll do better with people you WANT to support.

Totlesstonedchinamandoes anyone here pee at the sides of the toilet so it doesn't make noises?
I was kinda drunk at this party one time, and when i got up to get another beer I could feel this monster pee waiting to escape. I ran to the bathroom and tried to pee on the side but being drunk i hit the rim a couple times. So I squated over the toilet still facing forward untill I finished, cleaned the rim, and flushed. But when i turned around I realized I left the door open and these people were watching me.

I still hear them laughing in my nightmares

Somebody once saw me pooping backwards on the toilet, like, arms on the tank. They asked why, but i had already passed out.
No fucks given about that night.

#36 Emotional Experiences in Off Topic

Realizing that I could have learned a lot from my grandpa while he was alive at his funeral was crushing. He always seemed to smile about everything, regardless of the situation. Even as his Alzheimer's advanced he would smile about even the smallest things. I spent most of my young adult life obsessed with my own anger and how to release that in others. Depression and anxiety crippled what little social skills I had during most of my middle school and high school years, and the moderate obsession with making others angry never really alleviated it. Seeing how proud my mother was of my grandfather, how many people came to see him and how many cared for a man they may have only met once or twice gave me a feeling that I had wasted years of my life. Coupled with the grief of close family dying, this led to one hell of a bender (I had also recently been fired from a decent job, but that's no reason to go on a bender).
It's one of 2-3 times in my life I've cried uncontrollably, seeing my potential go down the drain made me realize that I spent 10 years of maybe 70 working to actively hate people.

#25 Worst Movies Ever in TF2 General Discussion

As hyped as it was, Gigli was really the most disappointing film I've ever watched.
Robotic acting
Mediocre plot
not exactly solid direction or cinematography

It was fucking awful.

Now, if you want to watch BAD movies that are comically bad; just search Clint Howard on IMDB. Look for any horror movie.

#31 Looking for a game to kill time. in Off Topic
MarxistThe black isle classics are solid western RPGs if you've not played them:

Baldurs Gate 1-2 (EE is available on steam + the multiplayer actually works)
Fallout 1-2 (also on steam)
PLanescape torment (the best RPG - though be prepared to "role-play" and not just kill shit and level up a bunch). You'd have to torrent or get it on GoG.
Icewind Dale 1-2(hack and slash kill things level up)

They'll all sink in tons of hours

Knights of the Old Republic 1-2 were pretty good RPGs too.

Some paradox strategy games are pretty fun too depending on how deep you like to go, crusader kings 1 is a pretty solid choice, or Europa Universalis 3, Hearts of Iron 2 if you like playing risk.

If you aren't very old school, and want a mix of RPG and RTS, heroes of might and magic 3 is also a really solid choice that can show why gaming in 1999 was in many ways superior to what we have now.

You will waste a years worth of life trying to know everything about all of these games.
BEST time wasters and GREAT FUCKING GAMES. I'll also recommend Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 with their expansions(they're third person with the camera behind the character) and maybe the Ogre series (ogre battle and those games, you can emulate them)
