hotdotthey also posted an "update coming soon" type blog post a day before (or the same day) the release date and there isn't one so far. If anything it's just a campaign update.
What makes you say it's "just a campaign update" when we have confirmation there's going to be at least matchmaking?
If there are any sorts of intoxicating materials there, you may have a lot of fun with "Rockets Rockets Rockets". It's not so much fun sober, though.
I can understand putting a few hundred into a really nice pair of shoes but I've never really understood the brand affiliation many people seem to have
Maxi-CollaideI just don't get why everything has to be a secret... TF2 is losing players to overwatch daily and more mysterious updates that will released in 3 months won't stop anything
I never understood the whole privacy thing with game updates.
Sure, if a game is early-access you might not want someone taking the idea, but at this point, is there anything left in TF2 that someone hasn't copied themselves?
Why doesn't Jill & Co. Just say "here's what we're planning, no timelines at the moment". What's the negatives behind it?
What stops b4nny from just saying everything he talked about? A banned steam account?
When you tell the community something before it's absolutely confirmed (which only happens on release), you're either locked in to doing that thing in the way you said it (which means you can't iterate on it and improve it before release), or you have to disappoint a lot of people.
DecapotatoGeel9Basically all I'm saying is that Valve is way better at what they do than many people here seem to think.
It's not that I don't believe you but when items like the Darwins exist you have to wonder what goes through their minds.
They probably just haven't had the opportunity to iterate on it yet. That may be fixed in the next major update, or maybe not (I do not know if they plan to do anything with the DDS)
You're never going to get information on future updates from valve. You can't promise those sorts of things in their position.
We certainly talked about some of the things you bring up but because I can't speak on them (my job is not to be a liaison) I won't speak on how they view those things.
My post's intent was solely to say that valve know what they're doing. If I wanted to share privileged information I would have.
flufDid you talk about DHS or upcoming i58
A bit. All I can say is what b4nny said before: Valve won't do a major or sponsor a tournament unless it makes sense to do so. If people don't care about comp tf2, it doesn't make sense for Valve to be involved in it.
moursifanshawewhat did you have for lunch?
Sandwiches, nature valley bar, and a coke. They had other stuff too that I didn't eat. It was pretty good!
EnterimThank you for the information, Geel. Very exciting.
This is probably not something you'd be privy to discuss, but did they talk to you about your websites? I was under the impression that Valve would not approve of marketplace.tf as it seems to me (though I've never used it) a superior version of the SCM for people who were gonna spend (real, non-Steam) money anyway.
if I had I wouldn't talk about it to be honest
Basically all I'm saying is that Valve is way better at what they do than many people here seem to think.
barcaphilipGeel9 The way they find, identify, and solve problems is very impressive. This makes me really hyped honestly.
This isn't necessarily anything new. I don't want to give the impression that "all of tf2's problems will go away!!" because that'll never happen. A "problem" is just something in tf2 that should be changed -- which every single patch does. I can't tell you which "problems" they care about, or what their solutions are -- but I can tell you that when they identify and prioritize a problem, they're really good at solving it.
Perhaps they don't solve it in the way you might want them to, but they don't seem to just make decisions for no reason.
JarateKingGeel9Also, they do care about competitive. What exactly does this mean, if you don't mind me asking? Do they actively check out tftv and watch matches and whatnot, or are they just going off of "this would make comp more popular, probably" like it sometimes seems they do?
Don't mean to be skeptical but "they do care" could mean a lot of things, from huge unseen involvement with the community to next to none at all.
What I mean is that Valve does care about competitive matchmaking -- my bad. That is, it's not something they're putting minimal effort into.
-protowho are you and why do u get to meet with valve
shit idk
