Before I realized the importance of decent hardware I played battlefield heroes (rofl) with a laptop that had the screen coming off, some tiny wireless mouse from some street fair, and I didn't even have a mousepad so I had to use my table which was uneven due to some plastic around it.
I think I didn't really notice or know about ping at the time so I'm pretty sure I played on some au server daily too.
