#70 Jeremy Clarkson suspended from the BBC in Off Topic
SchweppesWell there goes my Sunday. What am I supposed to watch now, Fifth Gear?

Assuming your profile's national flag is correct, you can spend a little more time cultivating your sex offender's moustache and perm, and perhaps pause from making chocolate just long enough to wave the Germans through on their way to Calais.

You're a victim of an internal power struggle at the BBC, but think of it like Belgium's place in international politics - an insignificant pawn in far larger and more important countries games.

As for what to watch, do they give this Flemish subtitles? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006ttc5. Or alternatively a thrilling game of "Shit yourself rich" is surely available locally

#61 Jeremy Clarkson suspended from the BBC in Off Topic
SchweppesHe specifically linked it to show as to why people think he should be sacked. It's not that the woman's views offend me because that would be ironic, I just think it's really poorly written and I thought stuff like this wouldn't end up being related to a big newspaper but rather someone's blog.

The irony is expounding on your own offended sensibilities (in this case at an apparent lack of publishing standards at a newspaper) whilst telling others that they cannot share theirs, or share it on this website anyway.

As a connoisseur of British wit I'm sure you're aware that the usual reaction to having a minor hypocrisy pointed out is to make a light self effacing jest at your own expense and move on, after all we're all hypocrites to some extent. Think about it as just a bit of Top Gear banter, it's what Jeremy would do.

Unless he was bevved up in which case he'd just twat you.

Schweppesif you can't take jokes like these and think they're crossing lines then don't want British comedy showsSchweppesAm I reading a mainstream newspaper or a shitty whiny blog? I honestly can't tell.

TurinHis sexuality doesn't matter. The fact that he's not Clarkson does. If they try to continue without him, I'm done with the show.

If the BBC don't renew his contract he'll turn up on Sky doing basically the same thing, I really wouldn't worry about it.

#236 Concerns about Flares that Care in TF2 General Discussion
perfect_numberaccording to plotchy and co. - snoven probably wasn't originally going to steal the unusuals, but decided just to run with it once the event was ruined. ofc I'm not excusing his actions or blaming this post

He's simply taking what he could get once his scam was discovered. Valve should do something, someone using a charity event to enrich himself by stealing donations should not be able to get away with it - it's in their power to return everything.

tordanaI think it's really a shame that, regardless of the trustworthiness of Snoven, the TF2 community managed to witch hunt hard enough to freak out the kid and force a cancellation of the event. The point of this was not to inflate anybody's ego, it was to raise money for a good cause and help out some kids in need.

The point of it appears to have been to take his scamming activities to a new level. If he's made the event toxic then he is the one to blame... and maybe whoever gave him the keys to the car.

#195 Ipkane mention's TF2's existence in TF2 General Discussion
nopeSo why don't you consider etf2l comparable?

ETF2L is surprisingly similar in some ways (i.e. not genuinely self sufficient), but there's a lot that isn't provided and even the most experienced players are effectively doing a lot of DIY organisation even with the efforts of community figures like Arie and Zoob. In Oz this is the same, but that's what ESEA buys you - total infrastructure with a lan and prize pool. It's a big cultural difference and taking it away would be a big disruption for questionable gain.

I mean you could start your own commercial league, but you'd have to start with CS and Dota to make it financially viable and add TF2 later as a labour of love.

SideshowI think there's a big difference between the NA scene and the EU scene in terms of outlook, but kaneco's right imo. You're perhaps a bit biased as a top player who has personally benefited from the LAN and prizepool, but for the majority of your scene that doesn't even come into it. They just pay ESEA to play vs better people and be in a serious league.

The problem with any big change is that the best players dominate the culture, they're mostly players who have been playing a long time, so they're used to it. If ESEA went a lot would probably cut the cord and move on rather than go through the grind of getting used to something new. That would set the scene back quite a bit in the short term at least. You'd really need an alternative that offers a very similar experience to just transplant so many players with minimal disruption.

Cevo showed that a similar alternative will at least be tried, but it also shows that there is difficulty sustaining two pay to play leagues in what is a relatively small scene.

#60 TF2 Player Rankings Official Thread in Projects

I've tweaked the way the inactivity penalty works, now for every 10 games you have on a class there is a day's pause before the inactivity penalty starts mounting up, so players who have strong participation records have more stable ranks.

There are some new additions to the site, the most important of which are more detailed profile pages accessed by clicking the “More stats” link in the player list or on the player profile popup.

Other small changes include some tweaks to slightly improve things on mobile displays, and some recent algorithm alterations.

defytaking a % is the worst idea brought into this thread, the tf2 market isn't even great to begin with

How about taking 0% for the first 99 games, then taking 100% and running away?

#52 Comprehensive List of Everything Wrong w/ Comp A:R in TF2 General Discussion
lvl4telling people not to support a game mode is fine, since unless you can satisfactorily create a new game mode that appeases HL and 6s players 100%, you'll only fracture the community and make the game die that much sooner

I'm not suggesting people can't or shouldn't criticise - that is self evidently ludicrous. My only point is that it's people's experience of the game mode that will count as to whether it becomes popular, and if someone's enjoying it then arguments about why it's not what they should be doing are going to fall on deaf ears.
