#2 ptd looking for general mentor in Mentoring

ptd is really good. He was my scout this past season, and despite the season being overall unsuccessful ptd himself, personally, took his game to a new level. He was the "second scout" after Split and was generally eclipsed by him, but after Split split (that's right) ptd really put on the man-pants and did massive work for the team. He worked his ass off to up his dm and showed great smarts and awareness as well. His work ethic is second to none. He dilligently warmed up/trained up every single day before scrims and took his games seriously. He definitely gives his all and is hungry for challenge and improvement. He's a younger guy but you wouldn't know it since he's very mature and goal-oriented blah blah all the stuff I already wrote above. He was worth breaking my 18+ rule for... I almost didn't get burned by it at all. Comfortably high open on scout and no doubt a beast at anything he sets his mind to. I have much respect for this guy.

#10 Low Open (CEVO) team LF scout & backup med in Recruitment (looking for players)

Haha yeah the pugs are still Griff Pugs, Max. Seriously nobody is as good as Griffulz at getting people in and getting pugs moving. Also props to him for developing/adopting just and friendly methods for picking and medics and stuff. I just provide the server and co-admin a bit. Shoutout to Griff for being awesome. Also singing.

#1 Low Open (CEVO) team LF scout & backup med in Recruitment (looking for players)

I have all the dudes I need for now. Thanks to all who added

Hello! This season I started a low open team (CEVO) with some of my friends and we're in need of a few more people. We are currently looking for one scout and one backup medic. Our current medic's work schedule means that as backup med you are guaranteed two scrims per week. Most likely this would be on Sunday and Wednesday nights.

medic: aZn
demo: Glop
scout: seal
scout: Blaine (Skrag)
pocket: Jaguar
roamer: Assassin Gyru

We have been growing well with regard to both dm and overall experience and realistically I'd say our goal is to reach a steady mid-open level this season... maybe more. We'll see. The team has a core of good friends so expect longevity and sticking together for a long time. We're definitely playing to play hard and improve and not just show up and screw around.

Requirements:

- We get together Sunday - Thursday, 9pm - 11-ish EST. You must be able to be here those times. I made an exception for my medic but that's because he's exceptional. Emergencies and occasional absences are understood, of course.

- No other teams / leagues. No highlander, UGC, etc. Spreading yourself thin is not doing anyone, except perhaps yourself, any favors.

- I strongly prefer the 18+ crowd. I am able to bend this rule from time to time but I have been burned for it waaay too many times in the past. Feel free to try out but expect extra scrutiny with regard to pretty much every aspect of everything.

As far as what I'm looking for - It goes without saying that you need to have a chill personality and fit in with us in mumble (this is not hard imo). You need at least a tiny bit of either dm or gamesense/experience. If your strength is in one or the other then that's something I can work with. If you have neither... well... I wish you luck :|

#3 Split LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

Really, really good scout. Strong dm but he's not just a dm'er. He plays very smart and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. He played quite aggressively and had a huge influence on how transitions and fights played out... zoning people out, making room, catching people out... It's a shame he was only able to play a little bit with my team before irl problems took him away because everything could have been different for us... High open sounds right on.

#16 Scout LFT low/mid Open in Recruitment (looking for team)

He tried out/rang for me the other night for a couple of scrims. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the ringing but it seems like just a little into the first scrim he realized he was a bit too good for my team of noobies that I'm coaching up and was condescending as fuck. He would constantly try to correct me and pipe in when I clearly wasn't talking to him and was coaching or giving feedback to my friends who are all new to comp. Then I'm guessing he just "gave up" and would constantly run through badlands house to die first and then complain that we weren't fast enough or weren't doing whatever the right thing was. Ditto for gullywash last - He would run out into lobby to die over and over while we were holding and the call was clearly to hold. You may think you know what the right thing is but I guarantee you it's not a scout rushing repeatedly into tight, enclosed areas to die first. So now I'm not really sure if he was just rude, selfish and uncaring or actually clueless and unable to have even a little common cohesion. If you want to show that you're too good for a team I recommend 200+ dpm and/or at least attempting to coordinate with them, even if they're slow.

#2 help me in Hardware

This is why I'm a huge advocate of using a ruler/tape measure to know what your inches per 360 is. That way I can always tweak whatever settings I need to get back to exactly the right feel.

Oblivionagecould u get rid of doms or w/e so it's a little more balanced and you don't get to see like an extra foot above someones head to see where they are

But this simulates people wearing idiotic unusuals that help you see them over and around obstacles. It's the real deal yo!

So the very tentative plan for now is that I will rent a car (my car is a city car and not big enough for an interstate trip) from Toledo and head down to pick up Turin in Columbus. Then I need one more person somewhere along the way either before Columbus or afterwards since I'd like to have 3 people to share costs. Also possible that someone could pick me up and then Turin and then head to Phili. Check it out folks and talk to me if you would fit into this puzzle.

So far I've pugged as demo, medic, and scout on this map and enjoyed it very much. It's coming together great and showing off that construction theme real nicely.

#8 Mid-Open Medic LFT CEVO in Recruitment (looking for team)

Emkay's a very nice and chill guy. He has experience playing a wide variety of classes in different leagues and formats which gives him a broad perspective on things. That Simple Machines was high open this past season is a generous assessment. I wish we were but there were all too many problems. Emkay definitely improved over the season but his strengths were, and still are, mechanical motor skills. He's got strong, reliable surfs and hits many clutch xbows and saws. The gamesense and awareness, though, still need more developing.

Medic, as with any class, has tons of moment to moment decisions that need to be made. To give a sample scenario, let's say we have uber and the other team doesn't. We hold mid but they aggress into us despite our advantage. They lead in with their pocket or roamer and you surf his rocket far away and save your uber, but your team then gets wiped since they were expecting to have the uber used in order to take advantage of an excellent scenario: The entire enemy team feeding themselves into your uber to get slaughtered. This seems super obvious when written out here but during a fast and frantic game in the heat of the moment it can be less clear.

Overall what's needed is more and more play time in 6s. There's nothing that can replace time-put-in when it comes to gaining relevant experience so good luck and keep on playing.

#13 Changing Sensitivity: Bad Idea? in TF2 General Discussion

I see the appeal of keeping the sens. the same all around and for all games but I've started to set sensitivities per game to whatever feels like a good balance between precision and reaction speed (in that game). This even goes for TF2 classes. My main sens. is about 7 inches for demo and soldier and med but for the other classes at one point I started using 14. Before that my average damage per shot with scout was 3. Once I changed it I could actually hit things every once in a while. Yeah it can be a bitch going switching between different games and classes but you get used to it and after a while it's not a big deal. It's a skill of its own that you pick up, being able to change sensitivities and rapidly adapt and carry on playing. So basically what smaka said. Do whatever you feel is right.
