I'm on my second 3500 DeathAdder and they are both like this: The right mouse button is substantially harder to push down than the left one which is super light. I remember being concerned about this when I first started playing on my DA. What ended up happening, automatically and naturally, is that I rest my index finger on M1 and both my middle and ring finger on M2 while the thumb and pinky hold the mouse on the sides. Basically it takes 2 fingers to push the right mouse button and have it feel as light and crisp as one finger on the left.
As people have said, go and play lobbies. No reason to wait. There's a lot more to the game than just head to head dm.
That being said... dm mod is nice but it's mostly like this as soldier: Spawn, turn to the side, rape some unaware person point blank, jump into a group of people who are fighting and unaware of you and annihilate them, and as you're wrapping that up an enemy scout or soldier does the same to you. Those are good things to know how to do reliably but they're relatively easy. MGE teaches that no-bullshit, head to head, me or him simple fighting that actually does matter a lot. No, the real game isn't like MGE but yet the instant you take a shot in the real game you should "channel MGE", so to speak, and consider the splash spots and the momentary positional situation. Avoiding that, in the long run, can make you weak imo.
If you're having problems improving then record a demo of your MGE sessions and watch them very critically in slow motion. Pay attention to all of the little details. Are you overshooting? Undershooting? Are you always moving straight at your enemy right as you spawn, therefore being super predictable and easy to shoot? Does your opponent take a good position immediately and you do not? Is he shooting the same spot that is destroying you but you haven't paid it much mind? Take every little bit of information you can and consciously work on it the next time you're playing.
Your practice time is not mindless drone play where you zone out and repeat automated steps. That's the real game, actually, as the dm portion becomes almost fully automated and you focus on predicting, positioning and team play on a larger scale. No, for practice you need to use your mind actively and it's strenuous. After you get done with practice you should be a little bit tired. It's a lot like lifting weights.

I ended up breaking my budget by $100 and getting this laptop:
lenovo G780 Metal (59359250) Notebook Intel Core i7 3632QM(2.20GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 1TB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M

Success! The game runs even during massive on-screen battles in full pubs at a steady 60fps where I locked it. A few times I've had the game flicker a few fps below that (say to 56) but it seems to be pretty random and doesn't correspond to tons of things happening on screen. I may be able to get away with a higher fps lock and possibly higher graphics settings. For now I turned everything down as low as I could but I left the current DX version. The resolution is also set to native, which is real high res so the game still looks surprisingly good even at minimum graphics detail. Only if you really stare can you see that some circles are actually pentagons and stuff like that.
Thanks to everyone who replied to this thread and offering advice!
I love this guy and have always looked up to him and Sunday Funday. Plays super smart, moves well, shoots well, great calls. Super nice guy. Just a pleasure to play/hang with. Good luck to you man!! <3
Pengi's a great guy. Strong scout and has some nice soldier skillz too. Always fun to hang out with. Thanks for the times you've rang!
Somewhere between the ages of 10 and 12 I came up with the name Jaguar because big cats are super kewl. People online called me Jag which I didn't foresee but it sounded badass. Well you obviously can't register anywhere with a word like "Jaguar" so for a short bit I had JaguarKing. King is a character in the Tekken series of fighting games (who incidentally wears a jaguar mask, though I've always been an Armor King player since Tekken 2). For whatever reason I didn't stick with that and changed to JaguarFiend. A fiend is a monster from Quake 1.

Back before that when the MSN Gaming Zone was around I remember registering and for whatever reason none of the names I wanted were available. Eventually out of frustration I thought "Well what if I type something really fucking stupid, will that work?!" so I typed PuKeCaNNon and.. uhh.. it worked D: Props to anyone who remembers MSN Gaming Zone. I played Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear through that.
Team Echelon is looking for backups for ESEA-Open Season 14. I would say we are roughly a high open team at this time. Everyone on the team are long term, dedicated, experienced players with multiple seasons under their belts (some open, some IM) so I am looking for mid+ or high open backups. I currently have scout backups and demoman backups are a low priority so I'm mostly looking for a soldier and a medic.
Particularly important is the medic backup as it looks like towards the start of the season there will be a small patch of time where our medic may not be able to play.

Good player. Super fun guy to hang out with. Awesome friend. God-tier handsome-man jawline.
There is no point at capping your fps at 120 if it goes as low as 30. You want to cap it at the lowest number that it ever hits so that you have a constantly smooth experience with no fps wavering. Obviously capping at 30 is pretty crappy but at least it'd be consistant. 60fps is the recommended minimum to be able to have a fair experience in online shooters. Upgrade your hardware and hopefully you can stay at your 120 fps regardless of what it happening on your screen and in the server.
Thanks for the replies. Breaking my price range by about $100 shows me these results on Best Buy. Discounting the tiny 14" and less screens, do any of these look like what I may want?
