apparently the unusual effect bug also happens when viewing/recording demos, so if for some reason you taunted during a game with a unusual and then went to record some frag after that taunt you will have the unusual effect on your screen

I can confirm that the demo playback crash seems to be completely gone, been recording some stuff after the update and so far 0 crashes, some viewmodels from older demos (ie: late 2013, early 2014) seem to have been affected for the worse but other than that it's working as usual.

edit: speaking of the devil, eric just finally replied to the last email, better 2 months than never.

Hellbentif a medic drops uber, another medic can come over and pick up the weapon with uber on it.

so you can pick up other peoples mediguns and it will preserve the charge they had for you

Yeah, the competitive pass might actually be a great idea to weed out the cheaters as long as it is a one time payment and not recurring or something weird like that. Pretty much puts it in the same system as csgo while still making the base game free to play.

  • Fixed a case where some gifted items would use [unknown] for the gift giver
  • Added new convar tv_delaymapchange_protect (default 1) to prevent manual map changes if SourceTV has not caught up with a major event like the end of a round
  • Fixes tv_delaymapchange not preventing a manual map change on the dedicated server while SourceTV still has buffered data
  • Added individual player-ready state for tournament mode
  • Added new convar mp_tournament_readymode (allows tournament mode to use a per-player ready system)
  • Added new convar mp_tournament_readymode_min (minimum number of players required on the server before players can toggle ready status)
  • Added new convar mp_tournament_readymode_team_size (minimum number of players required to be ready per-team before the game can begin)
  • Added new convar mp_tournament_readymode_countdown (the number of seconds before a match begins when both teams are ready)
  • Added teammate player glow outlines, names, and health bars for spectators
    Server toggle: convar tf_spec_xray (defaults to on), Client can toggle in the Advanced Options menu

That error message only appeared to me when I had oddly named demo files, (with extra . or spaces) by renaming the demo I was able to play these demos every time. But if your demo name is really tf2demo1.dem that might not be the case

That would be complete aids tbh, I can't imagine a fragmovie or fragclip where all the cool frags have shitty cluttering packs dropping out of it

I might be alone in this but I seriously hope they don't convert stranges into stat tracks. From the start I made an effort to stay away from weapon gimmicks like kill streaks, australium weapons, etc, because I find them obnoxious and ugly compared to the stock models.

Strange weapons are the only ones I really like because they don't have annoying effects, ugly skins (I hate australium weapons) or obnoxious hud popups or sounds, they're just a stock model with a neat little metric of kill count.

Stattracks might work fine in csgo with realistic weapon models but seriously how do you think they would integrate a stattrack into a rocket launcher, grenade launcher or original model for example? I reckon it would look ugly as fuck.

As someone who edits a lot of tf2 videos and frags, I think the stock models and skins are beautiful and I really try to stay away from non stock models/skins.

Even these skins for this update look rushed, weird and downright ugly, seriously looks like they just opened photoshop and went into the pattern tool and used all the default patterns onto those weapons. I have no doubt a skin workshop will bring amazing skins to tf2 like it did to csgo, but even then I would like to be able to still have my good old stock weapon and skin. If anything they should add a cvar for sv_pure 0 that would disable all skins/effects.
