#2 i55 fragvideo sponsored by Saloon.tf in TF2 General Discussion

So you're looking to sponsor a fragvideo but you're only maybe prepared to provide some sort of incentive? Isn't that all sponsoring does?

Maybe just a difference in language or something. I'd totally shoutout Kaneco tho, his latest video is absolutely sick.

#4 Competitive TF2 - Where to begin? in Q/A Help

Welcome!

First off, here is a hub for deathmatch/ mge (1v1 training mod)/ jump/ surf servers: http://www.teamfortress.tv/servers

You'll find that you want to just play pubs a bit to get used to the class roles in the game, along with aim mechanics. After a few hours of doing that, you can head over to newbie mixes, which happen every friday at 9 est: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/na6v6newbiemix

There are various pug services (both in house and public), but those are generally designed for players with a few hundred hours in the game but little competitive experience.

Here's a really solid guide on getting into it all:

#71 Comanglia's Config / FPS Guide in Customization
nobelharvardsVoldymorthey so i installed the toaster config you have and everything seems to be working fine except for the kill cams. it looks like this: http://imgur.com/dl1aKxU. im running your config at 1024x768 and at dxlevel 91. tell me if you need any other info
Dxlevel 91 does not exist.

I think it works, but it's just not as common. The most common modes are 80, 81, 90, 95, and 98. But a lot of other ones work (i THINK).

#231 Why it’s time to say goodbye to TF2Center in TF2 General Discussion
kKaltUuLyreixI can't fathom how people keep going on about how trying to build an alternative to TF2C from the ground up is a bad solution to a problem that only ~10% of its userbase is being affected by like if constructive criticism and basically trying to talk it out with MN and MT was a viable option, when it's clearly not an option at all because they're a bunch of insufferable dickholes who would just cover their ears and refuse to change at the slightest attempt of a call out on their shitty behavior and community management.
I don't mind competition, but first look at the good and viable alternatives. TF2Pickup is accessible for anyone to contribute. Creating your system from scratch instead looking if you can help them is just a bad starting point.

I think the tf2center people are WAY past the point where anyone sane will try to help them in their effort. They're insufferable, childish, rude people and there's little hope to fix the absolute mess of a system they have with our words. So, introducing an alternative competitor could do one of two things: force tf2center to get better staff and have better policy OR give us a thing that isn't tf2center to play lobbies on.

Both are better options than what we have now.

#7 Killcam / class switch issue? in Q/A Help
vibhavpKevinIsPwniirc, mat_viewport does nothing to help your frames. try with and without and compare your fps.
Really? My FPS config is literally homeopathy then

Yeah I'm 90% sure about that. I will run some tests today I guess. (Either way it's always better to run at a lower resolution instead of using mat_viewport).

riot124HYS found his way back into the scene as kaidus’s backup demoman drone
Kaidus's should probably be Kaidus'

c:

Edit: ALSO THESE PUNS GAWD

That's a regional thing. Where I live, "Kaidus's" is correct because the "s" at he end of "Kaidus" does not make it plural.

#30 How to Twitch (Guide to setting up a stream) in Off Topic
SetsulOk, I'll elaborate.
KevinIsPwnNVENC .. integrated gfx cardNVENC on an integrated gfx card? Integrated into what? A PC? That's called a dedicated graphics card.

NVENC at x264 streaming bitrates looks like shit.
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-benchmarking-1080p-60fps-cpu-vs-nvenc-vs-quick-sync.15963/

To sum it up
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/new-nvenc-presets.18900/page-3#post-130579
x264 will always win for streaming.
The only reason to use NVENC or Quicksync is if your CPU can't handle x264. With a 3770K it'd be plain stupid.

Got a new PC and was finally able to test your (and other peoples') claims (not the reason i got the new pc, but a good little bonus).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXMGlhB1fEc

Looks pretty much exactly the same as x264 on anything lower than "veryfast".

Also, more tutorials coming soon because now I can actually have a decent workflow because I don't have a five year old entry level gaming PC anymore. So yeah, get hypee etc

#95 Why it’s time to say goodbye to TF2Center in TF2 General Discussion

I think it's safe to say that we as a community should move away from the current TF2Center. I personally think major staff changes should be put into place rather than try to shift to a different website, though. The ammount of effort put into tf2center is huge, and to throw the (seriously impressive) functionality and infrastructure of tf2center away is crazy imo.

Honestly, just get a group of new admins to run the place from a PR standpoint, and have the technically inclined people stay doing work on the website. The "LALALA WE CAN'T HEAR YOU" vibe that I'm getting from the staff is absolutely childish and needs to change if they want their website to stay populated-- especially considering the impending MM update.

Truth is, it would take a considerable amount of time to get a service up and running that could replace tf2center. Sure, there are great pug websites, but they just aren't ready to deal with 500+ people of such varying skill levels.
