Rocket launcher/scattergun invisible in 3rd person

This thread seems to be on the right track.
I am having issues with the rocket launcher in P-Rec demos from before July.
I have downloaded these files and put them in the custom folder but I'm unsure of how the folder structure should be.
This is my issue when watching demos

When I look at P-rec demos they have this scatter gun in it.

The demos that don't work are from before July 2014.
I am using the same HUD, PVHUD.
When I die in the demo other people look fine.
Is there a way to fix this?
