DeepRikachubut the short circuitLuckyLukeI think doing this would get much more people playing in teams, playing competitive. Allowing items and classes is no problem, variety is part of TF2 and is what makes it interesting and that many people who keep playing it (publicly included). The high divisions will still use what works best and keep to scout / solly / demo / medic (although you might still have to limit demo and medic to 1?).
No Luke, higher div players will NOT use Scout/Solly/Demo, since a lot of the mobility of those classes will be made obsolete by GRU+Disciplinary Action heavy to mid. It will be a clusterfuck in the beggining, and then later stale as shit due to everyone running heavies which ALSO makes roamers obsolete.
Maybe, maybe not. I'd like to see that to be honest. More diversity, and well I don't think roamers wouldn't be useful at all, but obviously cant be sure.
I really just feel like all the restrictions is what stops new people from playing competitive (especially 6v6). Items, classes, but also requiring mumble, 1000+ hours in lobbies / pugs, otherwise kicking and such.
TwitchIts the single most greatest thing I've found to invest my time into. I can put my whole hear and soul into improving at this game and it never disappoints me. I love improving and seeing my hard work pay off through hitting those huge airshots. I love competitive TF2.
In regards to the competitive scene specifically, I think this game has the greatest competitive scene of any game out there, in that it is extremely new-comer friendly, but in no way fails to cater to the higher levels of play. What I mean by this is that I have played many games competitively before this, including Super Smash Bros Melee, and League of Legends, and in those games, the gap between casual play and competitive play is ridiculous. In SSBM specifically, you're either nothing more than the best out of your friend circle, or you're a top level player. There really is no entry-level competitive scene, or anything in between at all, unlike what the competitive TF2 scene presents. There aren't exactly divisions to progress through or a ladder to climb as you improve. TF2 competitive does extremely well at providing a competitive scene that is enabling of everyone.
Very true, and that makes me wonder why not more people play competitive, and stay playing the game they know?
Is it:
reillyPYYYYYOURStop banning weapons, stop limiting classes, stop alienating the community from the game itself.

Thanks so much so far!! Wondering what eXtv's 2014 is going to look like.
A more in-depth look on it for me:
My hobby has already become a job, as I'm working for a local animation studio for a living. But the projects I get to do there (informative, educational stuff) aren't quite as fun as eXtv. I wouldn't want to do anything else than video production anyway. Right now I have to combine my "normal" job with eXtv, but my normal job always goes first. So if I have a busy week there, I have to do eXtv stuff after work or in weekends. People still eXpect Top10s and MoGs (and them being on time) which adds pressure, more so than if it was properly paid (but I wouldn't want them not eXpecting anything!). If eXtv was paid the same amount or more (which it will if patreon succeeds), I can have eXtv go first and say no to local jobs if I have eXtv things to do. It would get rid of most of the pressure because I wouldn't need to work 10 hours a day or in weekends in order to keep producing eXtv things. But most importantly I just want to do something I love, which this is. My local job doesn't quite have a full-time place for me either, and it's difficult to find other companies that do. I'd rather make a little less money and do what I love than make a shitload and do something that's not fun. In the end, more money means more content! My current job is flexible though, so a part-time combination is an option for me as well.
If you hadn't noticed, the sixth TF2mixup event has wrapped up.
This time, in collaboration with the Yogscast and Humble Bundle there's a small tournament with four teams, in arena mode.
All matches have been casted on Polaris and there are team perspectives with their comms on each team's leader YouTube channel.
For the entire collection of videos, go here: http://tf2mixup.com/summing-up-the-sixth-event/
While the year lasts you can also still donate, and get your Heart of Gold!
https://www.humblebundle.com/yogscast
Highlights (spoiler alert!):
Person who claimed the #1 play and blooper of the month in the eXtv Top10 / Top5, whoever that may be in that month (if this is going to be a regular thing)?
narfAegisHave you applied for a YouTube partnership? You can usually get 3-4$ per 1000 views. If your average video has 10k views, then it's 40$+ per video. Is it really 3-4$ per 1000 views? That seems like quite a lot
It's usually about 1$ - 2$ unless you're like in the Top 50 channels and get amazing deals ;)
GO SAL!
PS: didn't know about this site yet but I've been wanting to set up eXtv on subbable for a while. Now I can't choose!!
renxzenYoutube Center it's a good choice too
https://addons.mozilla.org/es/firefox/addon/youtube-center/
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114002
If you use it also enable ads again, it blocks ads by default -.-
Might also mention that everytime YouTube makes an update to the site the plugin can break down and you'll need to install a new version (which is quite often actually).
