#9 TristenMilk - LFT Low/Mid Open Scout in Recruitment (looking for team)

He's everything he put in his LFT and more. Very dedicated, reliable and smart player who readily accepts criticism and goes out of his way to try and improve. Him jumping into IM right off the bat probably skewed his own opinion of himself, but I don't think he's a low open scout anymore and could easily hold his own. He's got great DM right now and just needs the experience to draw on to make more disciplined decisions, and I'm sure he'll be a fantastic scout.

I didn't drop to a market gardener so I'm gonna count that as "improvement" :)

#50 rewind 2 shoutouts in TF2 General Discussion

Shoutout to Jojo, Tony and Grumpy for being awesome and caring people to room with
Shoutout to Zoma for being kind enough to drive people places and putting up with my horrible directions
Shoutout to Quartz for getting everyone gifts (and also driving people places!)
Shoutout to my team and every team we played against in the open tournament
Shoutout to Kaidus, Jarrett and Muma for putting up with my awkward approaches
Shoutout to everyone I got to talk to and meet this weekend for being the most awesome group of people (there’s so many of you, and I love you all!)
Shoutout to everyone on Friday for putting up and waiting while we finished our 20-minute sunshine golden cap, that was probably the best game of TF2 I’ve played in a long time
Shoutout to the organizers, casters and production for putting on an awesome show
Shoutout again to the organizers for taking the criticisms from last year to heart, I think the set-up on Friday in the open bracket was perfect and got a lot of people the opportunity to play a ton of awesome TF2 matches

#289 December Global Whitelist Changes in TF2 General Discussion
4812622Also I can't fucking believe this bullshit. North American players were graciously allowed to provide feedback on five weapons out of over a hundred? Why is nothing being done when that this "global whitelist" treats everyone outside of Europe as nothing more than an afterthought, and only begrudgingly, at that?

AFAIK there is an equal number of admins from each geographic region that are invited and are present at the global whitelist meeting. Each of those admins are tasked with speaking with their player base in whatever capacity they find to be most productive, and provide feedback on the whitelist based off of those conversations. Aoshi is only speaking for ETF2L because that is his league and what he is most familiar with, but at the whitelist meeting he is just one of Europe’s representatives interacting with admins from Australia and NA, and there is absolutely no preferential treatment for ETF2L’s opinions. Aoshi just happened to be the one who agreed to represent the admins to the community with the whitelist, which is why it appears as if his voice is the most dominant.

#78 Rewind II details revealed in News

I realize this is a long shot but the team I was on didn't get to buying the open bracket spot in time because of various roster issues that have since been resolved... Is there any chance there's some way we can still get in on the action? We just wanna play :(

#38 Post your guitars/prized instruments in Music, Movies, TV

https://i.imgur.com/dTtPnQ1.jpg

This is my ol' reliable (I played flute for a decade before stopping; guitar, piano and violin for some number of years): She and I have been through some shit - concerts, auditions, etc. I was not a good music student.

https://i.imgur.com/9NuMk4X.jpg

This is my new addition, for work. It's a pineapple ukulele, which I hunted all across the city for (pineapple soprano with no paint on the bodywork... the paint makes the sound quality really :( ). I almost bought a considerably more expensive salted maple uke because it was the most beautiful instrument I've ever seen and it sounded so warm and rich but thankfully cooler heads prevailed.

I wish I could get back into guitar but my hands are still too damaged for that :(

#120 OH SHIT in TF2 General Discussion

I am trying to work something out in regards to making the announcement about ESEA fees. It is my sincere belief that people should play in the league they want to play in.

The UGC forum rules, to which anyone who wishes to use the forums agrees, specifically prohibit any kind of advertising without acquiring permission from the head admin beforehand, which is why all of the threads are being deleted. If you guys wouldn't mind, please stop trying to spam the announcement and let me actually try and work something out with my fellow admins who already don't exactly have the inclination to be accommodating on the account of being told to die in a fire.

I actually have the ability to make a proper visible announcement and not just a thread that will get buried in a few weeks, so please, let me try and work on it.

#115 OH SHIT in TF2 General Discussion

Alright, I'll bite. Bear in mind that I've had a pretty garbage week (my pet died on Friday, I haven't been able to properly spend time with her before she died because I have been working 7 days a week. The company I work for, which is essentially a non-profit social service, is being run into the ground by a managerial team who believe they are in charge of a start-up company).

I'm a UGC 6s admin, some of you silent ones not saying anything have dealt with me. I've adminned across a spectrum of UGC divisions and have dealt with just about every issue. I've also played in ESEA myself since s23 and also ran a last-minute ESEA team drive in S24, helped j4v out with his team drive in ESEA s26, and am currently on-board with helping Jarrett with the next season newbie mixes team drive.

Show Content
My experience of admining in steel is that the players there are either financially, emotionally, or time-management wise are simply unable to play in ESEA. They are people with busy evening jobs who can only spare one-two nights a week to play 6s. Or kids who have bed times at 10:30 EST (or even earlier.... one team had to play at 8:30 EST the whole season or forfeit, so I had to work with them through that). Or individuals without access to reliable means of doing online payments. People busy with college who just want to do something one night a week with former competitive friends. And yes some of them are players who are aiming to be in ESEA eventually but who doubt their skill or their ability of making it on an ESEA team (both valid concerns) so they choose to start out in UGC, but in that case we are merely a pipeline for their eventual arrival to play in ESEA.

Fornaught pays hundreds of dollars out of his own pocket every year to keep the league running and free for the entrants. His belief is that he wants competitive TF2 to be open to literally anyone who wants to (honestly) play it, so long as they have a computer with TF2 installed on it and an hour and a half on one evening of the week. So that's what we're there to do. We have no desire to compete with ESEA, and since doppel became head admin he took great care to work with tri to smooth out the transitions between UGC and ESEA, for the benefit of the people who wanted to go further.

We also try to be a league that works closely with map makers to try and give them a platform to test out their maps. We worked with either top-level players that were willing to give us advice on maps, or with the responses to the new map cups to select some maps to replace the most universally disliked ones. We have always had more freedom to play around with the map pool and the season format than ESEA because of the differences with our leagues and how they operate, and that's what we'd like to continue to do.

I personally want nothing more than for the splintering of the NA scene to stop, and when I adminned in steel I tried to instill more competitive values in the players - things like being more accommodating to reschedules, looking to a play a fair match rather than gimping the enemy team for an easy win - attitudes that I hoped they would take further regardless of which league they decided to progress in. However it's just the simple truth that not everyone has the ability to play in ESEA in NA, and as long as those players exist then so will UGC 6s, in one form or another. We are discussing some possible restructuring for the 6v6 league later this week, to better accommodate what our playerbase might need from us, so perhaps we can also eliminate something that appears to be in conflict with ESEA.

In all honesty it's pretty upsetting to see people deciding to call me and the people I work with names when all we've done is tried hard to run a volunteer league. Whatever issue with whatever 6s admin you had, they're not there anymore. Doppel, myself, Crayboff, rcrogue, fwishy and Kodyn have done nothing to deserve the kind of ill will that's constantly directed at us (ok, I fucked up with the b4nny UGC match. I've since apologized to the affected team and made some changes to how we managed admin time during match nights). Fornaught doesn't deserve any of this when all he does is run a league out of pocket and asks for nothing in return for it.

If you have any suggestions, feedback or actual criticism for UGC 6s, please message me. I would like to have this league be accessible and playable to the people who want to play in it. I don't know if I will respond to this thread again because like I said, I've had a garbage week and I hardly have any more desire to deal with more of it on my one day off.

#12 Magic LFT in Recruitment (looking for team)

He gets very passionate in-game but from just personal experiences I wouldn't say he's toxic, just prone to getting affected by people throwing or not performing their best.

At the same time he was kind enough to step in last season and help a dying team (read: definitely not performing their best) finish their season, and he brought a lot of energy and motivation with him even though he didn't have to. It was a pleasure having him playing heal scout and calling ubers and pushes in the last few games together and while we definitely were falling apart he came back again and again anyways all the way until the last match. I think he'd be an absolutely great pick-up for a mature team that is capable of staying focused and helping each other improve.
