#13 ESEA-Invite: lost in translation vs. WELOVEANIME in Events

I got to see two of my favorite things in all of tf2.

A forward pressure to force, and a wrap play.

My night was made. Also that phrackture jump into the enemy's IT was p-sweet as well.

#22 Pros and Cons of NA League choices in TF2 General Discussion

Really right now it's easy to say a lot, but a few days from now, will people be calm again? If so nothing is going to change. Will the CS:GO community depart from ESEA? Will ESEA remain solvent if other states come after it?

If both of those things turn out in ESEA's favor it will be very difficult for any other upstart league to be a success without overwhelming community support and a tremendous time investment.

Well the main thing that it would take to convince any of the top tier players is that they would receive equivalent or additional prestige and attention as they do in ESEA, because any start up would, in the near term, be unable to compensate them monetarily the way ESEA currently does.

In my talks with forn he didn't seem interested in fully converting UGC 6s to a for pay model and I don't think anybody really wants that either - especially the hundreds (thousands?) of people who are already playing there for free :p Especially because, like it or not, the UGC free 6s league is that back bone of this community and the primary source of new players.

Here is my basic proposal for the UGC league that I'll be discussing with forn this weekend - let me know what you guys think.

1. UGC would create a separate for pay league within UGC.
2. Players who played in ESEA would have the right to play in a division equivalent to one they played in, in S15 ESEA and would be moved as they would have going into s16 of ESEA.
3. Rules regarding matches (how many a week), the format of play, how map lists and ban lists are formulated, and roster up&down rules, would be carried out by community vote.

1. Establish a working relationship with a server provider so as to acquire servers for UGC league purposes, with the goal of covering every match on a league provided server.
2. Talk to sizzling calamari and integrate his client as soon as possible into UGC servers.
3. Stats, STV, and POV demos would be provided through sizzling stats and his client (assuming it's ready to do such things). If not STVs could be manually pulled from servers.

1. Reworking the website to make it cleaner, easier to register, schedule, and so forth.

1. Payments would be very small to begin with (5$ a person) to prove that UGC could handle the for pay format well. LANs and additional arrangements would be tabled, with the goal of reviving a LAN as soon as possible. OR initially, raw donations would be used as a way or proving that UGC will handle your money properly and honorably.

1. Hopefully get a crap ton of volunteer time and somebody to help forn with the website reworking lol. New/additional admins would also be required to staff the for pay league.

1. UGC 6v6 as it is now would continue as a separate free league.

That is one of those things that could be changed london.

Basically what I proposed to forn, is that UGC create a separate UGC 6s league specifically to accommodate ESEA players.

That's the easy part.

Everybody's divisions and changes would be carried from ESEA s15, new teams would start in the new bottom league (open equivalent), rules and etc could be negotiated or carbon copied.

Payments, servers, and cash prizes could then be integrated over time *potentially* (it's not something you can just say yes to over 1 steam convo without any real research lol) while still maintaining the free UGC league + medals and etc.

I've done it before and would be willing to do it again for at least several months.

Well the UGC 6s market doesn't really exist in platinum, most of the teams that could or should be legitimately in platinum have moved to esea.

The lack of client and dedicated servers *could* be changed. I believe STV recordings being done automatically is another thing that *could* be addressed.

TBH after reading the requisite legal docs for ESEA, even if we wanted to stay with ESEA they may be screwed anyways.

After you admit guilt to 1 state, and demonstrate the ability to pay, what is to stop the other states from coming after you?

As of right now owl I can't answer that question. It would depend on how interested people were in a paid league, and I imagine it would start out small to begin with because there are certain tax considerations that would have to be coped with.

I am not any longer pot - I didn't have time anymore I backed out several seasons ago, but I have a relationship with the folks there still and provide advice from time to time. I would be more than happy to step back in and provide an active voice for changes that we'd want as a community if need be, and the folks from UGC that I've talked to see more than willing to accommodate changes within reason.

Infinite is more or less uninvolved in teh day to day operation of UGC as far as I'm aware - they also seem willing to make changes to the league in some cases. INF also never really had any involvement in the day to day management of 6s.

My UGC sources also appear to be interested in putting a horse in this race, along with seemingly being very willing to reconfigure parts of the league to accommodate ESEA players.

So there's yet another option to toss in the hat if we are all truly unhappy enough with ESEA to depart.

The answer to that question should be self evident.

I'm not saying I'm in favor of anything ESEA did. Nor do I particularly have any love of any particular gaming company.

The question I have...

Why aren't they selling this as the NJ government not understanding what the client does - yes it does gather data of your computer, that's known and accepted (because it has to take demos and other data to detect cheats) and so forth.

I kinda get that is the vibe they wanted to send, but I'd be harping on it because that's their only hope of not dragging out the bogey man again.
