#11 Ping Issue, need help please in Q/A Help

Norton is rather a lot like scumware - it's basically impossible to remove.

Chances are, since multiple people are reporting problems, it prolly has something to do with something important getting busted by storms.

go to CMD type ping www.google.com -n 50 (that will give you an idea of how you're doing going west).

Then ping www.whitehouse.gov which should be east bound for you.

You could also do a tracert to a server you KNOW to be in chicago or New York - like the white house website and see if you're getting routed through Florida or some wackiness like that due to broken stuff.

Or maybe a hub you use has been overburdened recently.

#16 Trying my hand at casting + update on video guides in TF2 General Discussion

yeah that particular set of fraps videos got messed up somewhere in a few places and would have just had to be remade to work correctly. I've messed around with bandicam and dxtory but dxtory is all messed up from when I tried to stream lol awful video quality (I have literally no upload) lol.

Once I take myself more seriously I may invest is getting multiple huds to be all official like.

#14 Trying my hand at casting + update on video guides in TF2 General Discussion

Another go around with a game I hadn't watched before - some render errors in the video but it's inherent in the FRAPs footage :( not too many errors that last too long.

#11 If tf2 was going to be comp centric in TF2 General Discussion

tf2's main impediment to competitive growth is

A. The lack of a casual competitive community outside of highlander

There's no real good way to just feel the urge to play sixes at any time of the day, join a queue, and play, without being on a team of some sort. Because lobbies and Pugs tend to be pretty yucky if you're attempting to take it seriously.

B. Lack of awareness amongst tf2 players of the comp. community or how to enter it.

C. Barriers to entry - FPS, internet problems not present in sc2 and Moba games etc, complex entry (finding out about tf2.mix pug.na, etc) closed nature of the community.

Changing basic game mechanics, in the form of a pro-mod would only make most of these things worse. Not to mention that overheal basically *is* armor. If anything you could also just as easily argue that the sniper charge time should be LONGER since simply full charge body shotting kills all but 3 classes in the game (if they're unbuffed).

Plus most peoples' gripes with things in tf2, like stalemates, are tremendously over blown, since basically LoL seems to be pretty popular - but literally nothing happens in some LoL games for 10+ minutes, not to mention physical sports with time outs, pauses between periods/quarters, etc.

#5 ESEA Client Hanging Idle in Q/A Help

I sometimes have to click on it multiple times, and then the client will finally start when it realizes that I've got multiple instances of it running - then a little warning will pop up asking if I want to close the original instance, at which point I say no, and the client functions normally.

Be careful the US george clooney version sucks.

Although anything Tarkovsky did was beautiful like the mirror and stalker.

Also "the thing" is amazingly good.

The most devastating film I've ever seen. If you watch it don't blame me. Also the worst date movie ever. Come and See (Idi I Smotri)

you can *easily* obtain a post secondary education with even a complete garbage HS GPA as long as your SATs are good.

2.5 was what I came out of HS with and I got a full ride because of achievements in other areas lol.

#10 Macbook Pro's and overheating fix success in Hardware

Factory applied thermal paste is usually suspicious in nearly *all* mass manufactured brands. I owned a dell several years ago, and an HP that I got for college that all had similar liberal applications of the paste. I also met a guy that used to work in an alienware assembly plant that claimed most of the folks putting on the paste didn't even know what it was supposed to be doing lol.

#11 looking to buy car under 30k, suggestions? in Off Topic

I can confirm that you do indeed get a very good deal paying in cash - although the best possible option is to go to a dealer's auction, but you have to be licensed in most states (so you'd have to befriend a dealer and go with them).

#16 Yesterday was weird. in Off Topic

I was in an accident that involved an SUV I was in rolling several times and me having to climb out of it upside down - oddly enough I don't remember anything just that I was already on the phone with 911 and was trying to explain where I was. I still absolutely hate being in SUVs.

Glad to hear you're ok - the trip to the wrecker is always pretty heavy.

#13 Good, moving speech. A Must watch in Off Topic

If you've never seen the great dictator dingo, you should check it out - it's a pretty excellent film - especially given the events that occurred during and immediately after the film's release.

#11 Team doesn't listen? in TF2 General Discussion

Being Div 5, this isn't a knock on you by the way, a lot of folks on your team may not fully understand *why* you're making certain calls - this is the problem on up to the upper levels anyhow. After your pcw's if you noticed somebody overextending or pushing without calling it - ask them why they did, explain how it made it harder for your team to operate when they did that, and why, perhaps, they should never do that.

Medic main calling is all about directing pushes with heals - explain who is healed, when somebody is fully buffed tell them to "do stuff" in fights (that's usually what I say anyways) explain what you want done with the heals.

Another good habit, is if you know you have advantage, explain that you have it and that nobody should do anything stupid because you're just going to win based on that. The same goes for when you're building - you can't hand out buffs and heal hurt people if you're building uber really hard. There's nothing worse than getting ready to push with advantage - and then somebody dies and your whole push is screwed.

#46 Weight training for my GF? in Off Topic

The biggest things for me weren't even exercise - you can lose a solid amount of weight just by going on a walk every day for an hour (which is free). The biggest thing is the diet - the easiest way to manage that (it's cheaper too) is just buy raw ingredients and learn to cook for yourself - you'll immediately drop weight because:

A.) cooking from scratch is time consuming, so you'll eat less
B.) snacks are limited to healthy things (or left overs)
C.) you'll be bad at first and everything you make will taste burnt or not quite right

The only reason I haven't gained a tremendous amount of weight over the last 2 years of me doing absolutely nothing physical just about, is because I bake my own bread, and cook every meal from scratch lol.

It's the kind of thing where you go to eat and you're like "fuck hungry what eat?" and you'll realize that your only option is a salad or an apple unless you want to wait 30 minutes. I even make my own salad dressing - because even if you just get a basic store bought dressing they're typically loaded down with salt and heavier oils.

Great system. Plus cooking together is the bomb-digity, just look at how much fun ggglygy had cooking along with brad!

My system primarily consists of soups (easy to make), rice and beans, pita and hummus and/or yogurt, and now fancier breads with butter or jam, and every imaginable variation of rice with anything (curry etc). Some people would knock my bread intake but physically making the bread has to burn plenty lol. And the dairy is for pleasure (greek yogurt and feta cheese, also parmigiano lol) It's a lot cheaper than you might think - especially if you or anyone you know gardens and you buy in season.

Mainly what plat said minus all the accomplishments (in my case).
