You mean Marc Laidlaw? Who essentially wrote most of the Half-Life story to begin with? Somehow I get the feeling he regrets nothing

idk i guess i get being bummed out by it but i mean this is post "valve finally acknowledges comp and it fails as hard as possible," and you gotta talk about it. it still spent a lot of time trying to emphasize that yes, the game is fun and we have fun playing it. theres other tf2 content that exists that has very positive vibes, there shouldnt be anything wrong with looking at the whole picture.
i guess theres a line where it does go on too long about it? idk. pushing it in that direction for reasons outside the game is disgustingly selfish.
MisterDannyThe competitive community is 1%, lets try to get the other 99% involved.
that 99% is playing a different game. i dont mean that in the sense of a different ruleset, or the whitelist, or 5cp, i mean they have no interest in trying hard in a video game. tf2 is a stomping ground for new gamers, so a lot of them are people who are still getting used to keyboard controls. or people who can only play for 5-10 minutes. seriously, join any pub, and you will see people rotating in and out constantly. and theres more who just dont think theyre good enough for competitive.
and beyond all that, a major problem is (and always has been) valve itself. many of those who might want to try competitive tend to think that the valve version is at least somewhat representative of a competitive experience, even if theyve heard its bad.
weve just got to do our best to enjoy what is available. thats legitimately the only real way to grow the scene; you have to have fun playing the game. trying to promote competitive gaming to a wider audience that has zero interest in competing is not the way to do that.
Tastes pretty bad + contributes to factory farming in a huge way
No from me dog
funhaver1998Ur like 3 years too late
They should be working on shit that would actually have an impact. That update did the most harm to the game than any
it did harm BECAUSE it was bad, if they put out something playable there would be no harm. thatd be like fucking up one assignment halfway through the semester since you misunderstood something, and instead of trying to figure it out at all you just drop the class
toads_tfvr sux and there had better be a normal way to play the new half life game
There wont be, also fuck you pay me
Signed,
Valve
voting is a privilege afforded to only a small part of humanity, and most people through the ages just got fucked without even the facade of someone paying attention. be grateful you live in a time and place where the power of voting (or at least the illusion of it, depending on where you are) is important. fuck you go vote
Remind me again why valve hasnt hired sigsegv yet?
I know we're all autists whove been playing the same game for 10 years but these maps are legitimately decent. Just because we've nailed down how maps like granary and metalworks play and know how to work around their flaws doesnt make them good. I bet if propaganda had been in tf2 like 2010 or earlier we wouldnt even dream of removing it now
i would probably play this if rgl or anyone did an experimental league with it

just me or does his little hair curl look like a 3rd eye?
russian army shows up. world war 3. it's the GRU's biggest troll yet.
we have a player probably thanks!
having the time reset would defeat the whole purpose of awarding rounds in a set timeframe. at the end of 5 minutes, somebody is going to get some points and it will ostensibly be the team that played more aggressively. this defeats the whole point of stalemating for more than a minute or two, trying to run down the timer to win the whole shebang. maybe if a team only needed one more point to win they might take mid and then just try to hold down the fort for 5 minutes max, but thats still better than a max of 10.
I'm trying to work out in my head how a 5pc league would structure matches. i think that this points system either needs adjustment, or you need a maximum number of rounds. if you only need 10 points or less to win, getting rolled from mid twice would lose you the entire game. ive been part of plenty of games where we got rolled from mid twice but still made a decently even game happen. on the other hand if you need something like 20 points, and you have extremely even teams only getting 1-2 points every 5 minutes, you would have a ridiculously long game on your hands. or maybe we just stick with a 30 minute format?
basically i wanna play this
