#35 ESEA Allowing medigun pickups? in TF2 General Discussion

I think they should just have mediguns be like gunboats/charging shields, in the sense that you can NOT pick them up at all. There's just too much bullcrap surrounding this topic, and it would be much simpler to get rid of the debate subject altogether.

blinK really think what we need isn't a rule change or a new tf2center..

TF2Center really is f^%ked up. I thought some of the stories about the admins were exaggerations and it wasn't as common as people made it out to be, but that was before one of the admins decided to pull their bullsh!t on me. I got banned from TF2Center today (I WAS USING ADBLOCK, I GAVE THEM NO MONEY ITS OKAY), and the admin lied in his post. TF2Center itself isn't f^&ked up, as their website has a fairly good-looking design and is pretty simple to use. Its just that the management and admins are amazingly unjust, and the way they give out bans and treat the users are magnificently retarded.

There's no reason to support/donate to these people, that's why nobody is using tf2center.

#25 Original and Stock??? in TF2 General Discussion

I personally like stock, because you only need to do a 90 Degree turn for a good-distance vertical jump. Another downside to the original is that the rocket smoke is RIGHT in your face. It sort of disorients me and makes it harder for me to see players through the smoke, but that's really a personal problem and most would call it 'placebo'.

I legitimately tried to switch to the original before, but I was ended up pretty much taking the position of the 'weird dude' on jump servers, I couldn't rocket jump as well, and when switching back I actually landed a LOT more double airshots with the normal rl.

Placebo or not, I just feel more comfortable with the normal RL.

#14 Danpixed's MaxFPS compilation in Customization
DanpixedI've modified his a tad bit, I like it because it's organized better.

did you add anything from m0re's?
I remember in the past, I've tried some of m0re's individual settings that can't be found in other configs (mostly lighting) ,and by the looks of it, they did increase fps quite a bit. Too bad I can't remember any of the settings.

Epic post, even more epic that you used Rhapsody's config.

I don't think people give it the credit it deserves. His config is one of the only that gives me great FPS, while keeping the game not looking like crap. I would only consider ditching it if someone updated m0re's.

#1690 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

Does anyone know how to remove the white borders found around the payload meters and the control point meters?
I specifically want this for broeselhud_blue (http://i.imgur.com/KjQakrk.jpg).

Its one of the only in-game changes I have left to do.

EDIT:
Also, how do you add a 'Go to Inventory' button on the team selection part of the hud? How do you make it bound to E in the hud?

#4204 Show your HUD modifications! in Customization

Thanks for the tips guise.
After reading some of the replies, I decided to actually try at the main menu again. I wanted it to be minimalistic like broeselhud, so I started off with the broeselhud main menu. (http://imgur.com/a/EhZ2J#16)

I also found this on doodle's website and found this guide on buttons (http://doodlesstuff.com/?tutorial=tf2hud&section=button) that really helped me understand what I was dealing with. I started doing the edits, but when I got stuck for the first time in the process, I looked on huds.tf and found that zhud actually had most of the features I was going to add, but with different positioning (http://i.imgur.com/1LaE2Du.png). I used zhud as a reference to find out how to remove the backgrounds on the buttons, how to use a transparent box in the main menu, and it helped me with a slew of other things.

After going at it for 5 Hours, lo and behold, I ended up with this:
http://i.imgur.com/xaGuuHW.jpg

about as minimalistic than the normal broeselhud menu but fits with the hud theme I have in mind. 10/10 would do again.

Is this the usual process of figuring things out in huds?

I would honestly completely restyle broeselhud, if it weren't for the fact that everything you can find on the internet about TF2 huds are either very vague, or are incomplete hud tutorial series where people promise to finish it off but then barely even get past explaining how to move your ammo.

I opened the .res file where the main menu is, and I had no clue what the hell that was. I searched google.com and this was the best I found: http://doodlesstuff.com/?tutorial=tf2hud&section=mainmenu.

seriously, us hudmaking virgins need better resources.
More importantly, how the f**k do people like omni and collycat create huds despite all the extremely vague resources???

#97 TF2Stadium.com in Projects

I'm really hoping that this will get to be a thing, but I'm still concerned that this will basically become another tf2pug.me instead of what tf2center was. I think the idea is great, but more than anything it would be amazing if it could completely replace tf2center as the 'bridge' between competitive and pubs.

I think it needs to be 'advertised' at other places where less experienced players reside.... maybe even reddit.
If this is only 'advertised' on teamfortress.tv, this without a doubt will just become another place to get fatkidded by the good players.

I kind of don't agree with having this kind of 'rule' with HUD mods. Some of the HUD Mods I've tried out (ex: bwHUD_hexEdition) are far off enough from the original that they can change how much I personally like them completely. And besides, at least a quarter of the 'new' huds posted are 'generic yahud bs ripoffs'. Why should those not be considered hud mods?

#10 Headset in Hardware

I think that the HyperX Clouds are pretty overrated after listening to my friend's batch of audiophile headphones, and owning a HyperX Cloud myself. Audiophile headphones sound better, and don't forget that you need an AMP for the HyperX Cloud's to sound good. There are also a million cheap solutions to not having a mic, and its not like you need insane mic quality anyways, unless you're a youtuber/streamer. The HyperX Cloud is a value worlds better most if not any other gaming headset in its price range, but they still don't sound like actual 'audiophile' headphones.

EDIT: if you care about surround, then you shouldn't, because to my knowledge it won't make a legit difference if you have your sound settings right. Surround also sounds like sh*& to me. If you still actually care about surround, then go download Razer Surround. Only expert audiophiles can tell the difference between digitally created surround and legit headphone surround with multiple speakers in your headphones, so it shouldn't affect your decision either way.

I think that this proposed solution is the best:

x3How many threads does it need for people to understand that gaming headset a generally garbage because they are overpriced

75.00$ : http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-518-Headphones-Black/dp/B0042A68R8/ref=sr_1_17?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438641209&sr=1-17&keywords=Sennheiser

10.00$ : http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438641166&sr=1-2&keywords=modmic

Better sound quality than any 80$ gaming headset.

Just move the demoman shield charge meter so that its right under the charge meter for stickies/loose cannon.
use the scout charge meters as a reference to where I'd want it.

Also, if it won't be too much trouble, can you make the sticky count +a shadow for it centered on the screen, right above the loose cannon/sticky meter?

thanks in advance.

Done and I also fixed some mistakes you made regarding fonts in clientscheme.

thank you so much!
Now I can focus on differentiating my hud from ya_hud

#1638 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization
_KermitMightyomniMightyNokkEdit the positioning and size of HudDemomanPipes in hudlayout.res to fit your needs. Then you can move each property within the box in huddemomanpipes.res.I tried to do that, but when doing hud_reloadscheme after I changed the values, vgui_drawtree 1 showed that huddemomanpipes was in the same place and nothing changed. And no, I didn't forget to save.

HudLayout.res: http://pastebin.com/i9J2BSEV
HudDemomanPipes.res: http://pastebin.com/c8m1LuBw

qq am I doing something wrong, or is it some sort of bug?

does anyone at all know a fix??

What exactly are you trying to move? The charge meter? Because you've got the xpos and ypos of ChargeMeter set to 0 and 1 so it'll be in the corner.

I assume you've been doing that so give us some screenshots.

I'm trying to move and resize HudDemomanPipes through the entry in HudLayout.res in order to have the shield charge meter in-line with the others. The charge meter itself moves freely WITHIN HudDemomanPipes and works as its supposed to, but when attempting to move it outside of huddemomanpipes it gets cut off by the huddemomanpipes 'Panel'. For some reason, the size and position of huddemomanpipes is NOT changed by the HudLayout.res entry.

http://pasteboard.co/29NGsXsC.jpg

I just moved and changed the size of demoman pipes no problem on a hud that I've made. I dunno how you've got a problem with it. At this point I want to say just send me the hud files and I'll fix it myself for you.

danaThe problem is the way TF2 does outlines. That is to say, poorly. If you want good looking outlined characters you have to do it gmang style. Start with the white foreground character, then put the same character in black behind it but one pixel to the left. Then repeat with three more black characters, one each to the right, up, and down. And you get what basically looks like an outline but is really four separate drop shadows.

Could this potentially be used to create better Crosshair Outlines?
