DollyAntimoonI feel like most of the big name players who are retired are somewhat overrated. There's a big difference between being a great player in season 6 and being a great player now, since the bar has been set much higher. Look at stuff like the classic Reptile frag vid, or Carnage's old videos, and compare that to your average open or IM player now. Things that used to be considered excellence are now considered average play.
That's not to say that the old players were bad, they certainly were great for their time, but it's kinda dumb when people say that those players would still be at the top of invite if they came back.
Mate have you seen prem/invite lineups nowadays, players back then had like 4 insane top teams in their divison with star studded rosters that they had to face and perform against, nowadays like catbowcar is a top player.
Just because the meta has changed doesn't mean it was easier to play back then lol?
I know this isn't what the thread is about but if you truly believe that players back in season 10 could compete mechanically with invite players today you're extremely delusional. You say that every team had a "star-studded roster" but when no one is good everyone looks good.
Even if you're gonna debate about how good players could have been on current machines/computers they didn't really have high refresh rate monitors and had worse mice.
In general the game was slower back then and with the way the game is played now, a lot of the old school teams would get blown over by aggression. The game literally was easier to play back then.
