Crit-fail usually has 3-6 open players per pug, and usually plays multiple times per day. The other 9-6 people are more variable, though. YMMV. Sometimes you'll get lucky and it'll be nearly all open-caliber players.
Ho boy do I miss college internet
Related, are STVs anywhere?
There is no way that is a 120 Hz monitor. It's too cheap for one that big. There must be a typo in the specs online. A 120 Hz monitor MUST support DVI-D in order for it to work, and a true 120 Hz would be about twice as expensive as that one if they are 27". Best shot is to return it and buy a real one.
This happened to me too. For some reason, TF2 was reading the file from /tf/cfg, and NOT from /tf/custom/userstuff/cfg. Regardless of the changes I made to the autoexec (or any other config in the custom folder), TF2 would read from the regular cfg folder in /tf/. I don't know why it did that. I backed up my TF folder, then deleted it entirely. Reinstalled the custom stuff (hud, configs including autoexec) in the proper location (tf/custom/userstuff) and it worked.
Pain in the ass, but shouldn't take more than 20min to rectify. I suppose you could edit the files in /tf/cfg but then you'll have multiple copies of your configs floating around and it gets to be a mess. Especially if tf2 decided to start reading from the correct location at some point in the future.
prangI hope the quick fix doesn't get banned next season. It sure isn't fun for anyone when a heavy and a QF medic roll out but it is really good seeing the game shaken up a bit and some discussion happening.
There are a few changes Valve could make to the quick fix that would make it more friendly to 6s. They could remove the heal rate from the medic during charge so they are as vulnerable as when using a kritz. They could remove the no airblast effect so that pyro has a place on the team during static fights. They could even make it work like uber so that points can't be capped while under QF effect. Realistically though Valve won't change it, or at least not for quite a while.
I think the answer to the quick fix is more unlocks. Give teams more weapons to use, give them more creative items like the conch, give players new ways to think about the game so that they can adapt. I shudder to think about more guaranteed crits in 6v6 and I hope we can avoid that but the reality is the meta before the QF was really stale.
The 6v6 community has set up a box within TF2 to try to exclude all the boring and frustrating parts of the game. Running around a corner into a heavy is just as boring as getting headshot from across the map though - congrats you picked the right class and clicked. As long as this box is set up within TF2 I would like to see more classes played and more weapons used competitively. Lets see what crazy strats and wacky plays come out of the QF and anything else that gets picked up in 6s. Just leave the crit weapons out, Highlander would be way more fun without the RNG kills. With so few new maps coming into competitive TF2 something needs to be added to make it more dynamic.
I also think we should give it some time, instead of reacting with the knee-jerk reaction of banning it. It ended up being every team's "secret weapon" at LAN, but I think there is a good possibility that the meta will mature as people explore the strengths and weaknesses of the new quickfix. A lot of people (including bl4nk on the LAN cast) pointed out that heavy/QF med at choke leaves your flank particularly weak, and the inability to push into last is another glaring weakness of quickfix. My team also found that running the QF changes the distribution and emphasis of where heals are going, which impacts how your team plays. Perhaps you're right
DunderBroHAS ENGLISH GONE TO FAR?
Literature professors HATE him!
Keep up the good work, I'd love to see Warmfront make a comeback.
bettyWatercooling your CPU and GPU is never a bad idea. Start there. If you are overclocking and don't want lame scores that is. There's a lot of cheap full-range kits out there.
Watercooling is definitely a bad idea. It is really expensive, very complex, and in most cases does not give enough of a benefit to justify doing it. Not to mention that you have to clean it, and the coolant can spill everywhere and make a huge mess. Air cooling is more than adequate for all but the most hardcore hardware nerds. If you want to spend several hundred dollars on a full custom loop for cooling, yes you'll get better performance than air cooling. If you have any semblance of a budget, though, don't watercool. Imitations like the H80 don't make your CPU much cooler than a CM 212, which is only $30. Nobody short-circuits their motherboard because of an air leak.
Well, you could try uninstalling TF2/steam and deleting all local content. Tends to fix weird things for me, at least.
A bit dated, but might try this
I noticed a big drop in fps after the most recent update. Added mat_phong 0 to my config, thinking maybe that helps? At midfights is when it is worst. Not a huge issue if I drop from 300 to 170 but it is noticeable. It is a bit ridiculous that a nice computer can't consistently get 240+ anymore though, even with a graphics config.
shruggerbut pistol is more useful in mge than it is 6v6, I would think that mge would form the habit of using pistol TOO much
THIS! I developed a habit of pistoling (and actually got pretty good at it) because in MGE I would just fire my six scattergun shots and switch to pistol regardless of how many scattershots I actually hit.
