Raise your hand if you are surprised that this new update (that was supposed to fix everything) breaks everything instead.
...Anyone?
IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT

(this is what the music industry actually believes)
For the record, the MX518 had the cord issue as well. This is not a new phenomenon. The MX518 had angle snapping, and the early versions of the G400 had it as well. If anyone has a G400S, open MS paint and try to draw some horizontal lines. It's pretty easy to tell if it has angle snapping or not. I would be very surprised if they did go back to the old sensor, and I'm also very surprised at the reports about its cord. I wouldn't put too much faith in one Amazon review, but only time will tell.
The instructions aren't entirely clear. The text has to go in specific places in the clientscheme res file and the hudlayout res file. Just anywhere in it won't do. I put it under something to do with "fonts" and it worked out for me, though it doesn't seem like you can ever get it perfectly centered. And part of me thinks the crosshair isn't 100% symmetrical but maybe I'm overanalyzing.
God damn, I've been using the mx518/g400 since 2006. Guess I'll have to pray to the gaming gods that the USB cord doesn't break.
In college you are going to type. A lot. A keyboard will be much more amenable than a touchscreen. I'd even go as far as recommending bringing a real USB keyboard for your desk in your room (or bringing a desktop...), but most people don't do that.
God damn what I wouldn't give to play heavy on a touchscreen
Yeah, bashing UGC is revenge for all the stupid shenanigans they've pulled (admins being assholes, disparaging top ESEA players, banning people because they are too good at tf2, etc.). AND NOW THIS!
it goes on sale for $35 reasonably often. It is a great mouse, yes sometimes has cord issues but the MX518 had them too. It's really the connection of the cord to the circuit board inside the mouse, not the cord itself.
Also for the guy who plays at super low sensitivity, you should turn your dpi up and you won't get spazzing out. That's why they make the dpi selectable.... (also useful if you use high sens too).
