#4 need Help in Q/A Help
faggetIt doesn't crash when i play casual with the same settings.

You probably don't play casual with the same settings tho.
Comp MM forces a bunch of settings, so if you have a FPS config and minimal graphic settings for casual, a lot of that will be automatically reverted in comp MM and your laptop might not be able to handle that and over heat and shut down.

#1 ToonHUD makes my game stutter. in Customization

I really like ToonHUD and have been using it for some time now, but for a month or so now I can't use it, because for some reason my game stutters when I do. It's like small micro stutters where the game freezes for s split second like every 1-5 seconds. It's not just when I shoot players but randomly all the time. And I'm sure that it has something to do with toonHUD, because I tried a bunch of other HUDs and never had this issue. Was hoping the latest update (of the HUD) would change this problem, but unfortunately it didn't. Any idea what might cause this? Pretty sure it's not a autoexec command or something, since I tried using all default settings and it didn't fix it. Also tried removing the text under event damagedPlayer in the animations file, because I read that this can be a fix of sorts but that didn't help either. https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/57760o/cause_and_fix_for_serious_fpsdrop_issue_involving/?st=iu7rmtqe&sh=79464249 Not using any hitmarkers either btw.
Would be great if there's a fix for this because none of the other HUDs I tried is as good as toonHUD :(

#10 Acceptable behavior in MM? in TF2 General Discussion

Sounds like comp MM is pretty much perfect for you.
I'm rank 13 now and still get matched with rank 1 players all the time.
My own rank barely seems to make a difference in what ranks I get matched with.
Usually there's one or two guys who use their mic, but for the most part there's zero team play, the most you'll get as far as team play goes is a "medic down" or "fall back to last" here and there and a lot of "you useless fucking spy switch to heavy so you can at least help a little".
Most people do try to win and get frustrated if someone doesn't perform, but since the skill level is low the expectations what you have to do to not drag your team down is really low.
If you're getting good scores nobody will care if you don't communicate or don't play with your team.
Even if you don't do well, the only time people complain is if you play spy, engie or sniper and then bottom score (nobody really seems to mind pyros and most people actually love heavies on their teams because they know even bad players can do ok as heavy).

So yeah, if you're a decent player you can definitely play MM without paying attention and not piss anyone off.

#123 Pub catchphrases that grind your gears in TF2 General Discussion

"ez" always pisses me of pretty hard for some reason.
Especially if it comes from some guy who got carried by his team.

#72 Official KnucklesCrosses Release! in Customization
TobRentQNCan someone tell me how to install this with KBNHud?
http://huds.tf/forum/showthread.php?tid=271

I went through the whole process really carefully several times, but I still get the letter "d" on my screen instead of the crosshair.
I used KnucklesCrosshairs on a couple other Huds without any issues before so I think there's something special about KBNHud where you have to do something different in the installation process, but I can't figure it out :(

most people mess up when defining the font at the bottom of clientscheme.res so double-check that. Afaik there's nothing in KBNHud that'd make this not work

Yeah the weird thing where I'm unsure is that this part:
"x"
{
"font" "resource/fonts/KnucklesCrosses.ttf"
"name" "KnucklesCrosses"
}
with the ascending numbers instead of "x" isn't at the buttom of KBNHud's clientscheme.res.
There are two sections somewhere in the middle of the file that look like your example.
I tried adding the lines above at the end of both of those sections (and changed x to the next number of course), but it doesn't seem to work.
Should I maybe create an entirely new section like this at the buttom? Wouldn't really kow how to go about doing that.

#1200 rayshud in Customization

All the custom crosshairs are really huge for me.
I don't see any option to adjust their sizes in the installer.
Is there a way to reduce their size by editing any of the scripts?

Edit: Another thing: I noticed that when I get buffed my games starts stuttering a little. It's frequent but very small stutters, but still definitely noticeable compared to no buff.
I guess that this is somehow caused by the blinking/shrinking white health cross around your health number or health cross.
Maybe something similar to this I guess?
https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/57760o/cause_and_fix_for_serious_fpsdrop_issue_involving/?st=iu7rmtqe&sh=79464249

So is there a way to fix this?
Or if not, is there a way to just entirely remove the white buffed cross and just have my health number change color and stay solid, no blinking, no changing size, no nothing?
I tried messing around with the hudanimation files, but couldn't figure it out :(

#101 Share your Settings! in Customization

HUD: Garm3n VIP Beavern with some little changes.
Crosshair: KnuckleCrosses big white CS style crosshair with outlines.
Config: Feliks Config with all the ingame graphics settings set to low except for mat_picmip -1
DX Level: 90, since that's the minimum for MM and I mainly play MM. Without the restriction I'd use 81.
Aspect Ratio + Resolution: 1920x1080; 16:9
Viewmodels, FOV: 90 minimized, 90
Keyboard: Quickfire TK red switches
Mouse: Zowie FK2. Best mouse there is imo.
Mousepad: Steelseries QcK Heavy
Sens: 8.2 In/360 or 20.8 cm/360 (800 DPI, Raw input 1, 2.5 Sensitivity)
Monitor/Refresh/Respone: BenQ XL2411Z, 144Hz, 1ms
Headset: Headphones + Clip-on mic, because headsets are a waste of money.

MightySens: 12.1 In/360 or 30.8 cm/360 (1600 DPI, 3/11 Windows, Raw input 0, 3.37 Sensitivity)

Why? Just use raw input 1 and a lower sens. Should make your mouse movement a lot more precise.

#37 Felik's config // Chris' config replacement in Customization
fxRentQNJust from my experience after playing with them for a while, the net settings are pretty shit.
I've been missing shots that were 100% on target quite a bit.
And it wasn't some kinda fluke either, the difference was immediately noticeable after switching back to my normal settings.
I believe you when you say that you have some knowledge of those things, since you config is actually really good (if you want your game to look all shiny and stuff) and that your net settings make sense in theory, but they don't seem to work too well in practice. At least for me, maybe they work great on your and other peoples connections.
It's either placebo, or you have a very weak connection.

Hmm I'm pretty sure my connection is solid. I get good pings and no packet loss or anything like that.
Don't really think it's placebo either. I first used your settings for 2 days and then switched back and forth between yours and my original ones for a bit.
It might just be me being used to my settings so much and basically being used to aiming in a certain way that might not necessarely always be exactly on target, but more like where I learned the shot will register.
I mostly missed the kinda shots where the enemy is very close to you and almost behind you and you spin around really fast and shoot at some point while your crosshair is flying over the guy but doesn't really lock on to him so it's kinda hard to tell if it was on him or not when you fired the shot.
Not really sure what it is.

RentQNI also have a question about your config other than the net settings:
Will this still work well when you turn down all the graphic settings that can be changed through the ingame menu to low?
I don't want my game to be super ugly (which is why i appreciate you config, plus it gives great FPS for how the game looks), but I don't want all the shiny glowing stuff and reflections and whatnot either.
So my plan would be to just use your config as is, but change all the ingame settings to low (and the corresponding commands in the autoexec so they stay that way).
Would I still get the same or better FPS if I do that?
Or is your config entirely build around having stuff set to high and will give worse FPS if you set it to low?
mat_bumpmap 0 should get rid of some shine without side effects.
And it's not based at all on having everything set to the highest, or the lowest, it's meant to allow the game to handle more things, which is better for stability reasons.

Thanks I'll try that (both mat_bumpmap 0 and setting everything to low) and see how it goes.
My FPS where just slightly lower than with my usual config (170 vs 173) with almost maxed out settings, so I might get even higher FPS when I set everything to low, which would be pretty incredible, seeing as the game looks a lot better (probably even with lowest settings) and the game kinda feels smoother and my FPS are more stable.

So definitely gonna give your config another try :)
Thanks for uploading it.

#16 frames die unless i alt tab in Q/A Help
PaperBagWizard-dxlevel 91 -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -console -novid -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd
all of my launch options

Remove "-dxlevel 91 -full -w 1920 -h 1080 -useforcedmparms -noforcemaccel -noforcemspd".
The accel ones are just useless and dxlevel and the res stuff is only needed for a fist launch and after that can cause issues from my experience.
No idea if that has anything to do with your problem, but it's good to point out anyways.

#11 Why is the null move. script useful? in Q/A Help

I've been using the script pretty much since I started plying TF2 and just now tried playing without it for the first time because of this thread.
I didn't really notice any difference and never stopped moving by accident.
Probably because I already have the muscle memory to immediately let go of A when I press D from playing CSGO for over 1000 hours.
I didn't see any benefit from not using it either, since when I want to stop strafing for a split second (which yes, can be a good method to dodge against scouts), I just let go of both A and D rather than pressing both.
I don't think being able to stop by pressing A and D at the same time has any advantage over letting go of both, so I'll keep using the script just because why not.

Can you make a customization file to move the chat window back to the bottom?
I like pretty much everything else about this hud and would love to use it, but the chat window on the top kills it for me :(
