#3734 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization

I recently started to use the "Garm3n Q-M" HUD from this thread:
http://www.teamfortress.tv/33738/ive-updated-some-huds

I really like it so far, there's just one thing that I'd like to change about it-
The little heart next to the health number that seems to be completely useless (it doesn't empty as you lose health or anything).
It there any way to get rid of it that is easy enough to do for someone who has zero experience editing HUDs?

#1 Scout POVs to watch? in Videos

Hey, so I'm a newish scout player (~100h as scout) looking to improve.
I figured a good way to do that, besides playing matches and MGE would be to watch really good scouts play and learn from them.
Problem is that when I search youtube I can only find a few POVs from pro scout players and most of them are pretty old.
So what I'm looking for is links to videos of pro scout players POVs in high level matches.
Or maybe just pro scouts playing in general, maybe some scout guides by pro players if there are any.
Basically any not out-dated content by pro scouts :)

I missed the whole event.
Does anyone have links to some seagull gameplay from the event for me?

#17 Game stutters/feels laggy despite high FPS. in Q/A Help
R4inHave you tried capping your fps?
60 monitors = max_fps 121

Problem with that is that I have a 144Hz monitor, so I'd have to cap my FPS at 288, which I don't get consistently.
Also, I mostly play MM and in MM the FPS are capped at 300 and you can't change it.

tnmDo you use flashing crosshair?

I don't.

PaulsenAre you using Windows 10? I had the exact same issue yesterday after the most recent TF2 update. Consistent fps drops down to 50 or less in 1-2 second intervals exactly like you described. I restarted my PC, checked my CPU and GPU temps (they were completely normal) and everything else you could think of but nothing worked. I also tried removing my custom HUD to see if that would fix it but nope, was still stuttering all over the place.

I then remembered windows had been bugging me the past 3 days about installing the latest windows 10 update. So, out of ideas, I went and installed the update. This fixed it completely. No more stutters or anything, just constant 250+ fps like I've always had.

So yeah, if you have windows 10 and haven't installed the latest update, try that :)

I do use windows 10, but it installs updates automatically (don't even know how to disable that, just one of many reasons I dislike win10).
But it installed a new update just now, so I'll try if that changes anything later.

#12 Game stutters/feels laggy despite high FPS. in Q/A Help

Ok so by now I'm like 99% sure that most of the stuttering only happens when I'm using a custom HUD.
I realized that the notes for the recent update said:
"A few HUD files were updated, so don't be surprised if some elements break, or all of it breaks
wiethoofd informs me that they shouldn't crash (provided your HUD uses the hudanimations_manifest setup), but who knows. He's got a detailed breakdown of the changes on huds.tf"
https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/54tjy6/tf2_update_for_92716_92816_utc/?st=ito4d97w&sh=76e06e71

So maybe the reason that the stuttering got worse after this patch is because my HUD isn't compatible with this update?
I'm using using toonHUD btw: http://toonhud.com/user/noxie/theme/MV1ECIAB/
But no idea what about the HUD might cause the problems.
Can someone recommend me a good HUD that definitely works with the new update?
Really can't stand the default HUD, especially the tiny little damage numbers.

Something else I notices is that my console gets spammed with this line:
"Failed to load sound "vo\null.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository"
Pretty sure this is new.
Could this have something to do with the stuttering?

SidularWhat graphics card are you using, and have you checked for or installed any firmware updates lately?
Have you tried removing any custom configs or huds? Just run vanilla everything, and see if that fixes the problem.

I'm using a GTX750Ti, latest drivers.
Haven't installed any firmware updates. Should I? You mean for the graphics card?

I've tried removing my HUD and only used my autoexec.
I felt like it helped a litte, but didn't fix the problem completely. And I'm not even sure it really did anything, since the problem is worse in some matches than in others, so I can't really be sure if the improvement was just coincidence.

I'll probably try removing all my cfg files tomorrow. Was holding back on that one so far since it's always a pain in the ass to redo all my binds.

Edit: Wasn't there a command to revert everything to default (config wise) without removing the files?

Edit2: Ok so I just tried removing all config files and resetting everything to default (no custom HUD or mods either).
Didn't make any difference. Still not sure if removing the HUD made one, but config definitely didn't do anything about the problem.

deetrRentQNOk so I tested if I have packet loss and the net_graph said "loss: 0" all the time, so I guess I don't.
Choke was at 0 most of the times, climbed to 3 rarely.

Also tried the "ping -t www.google.com" thing. It just gave me a ping for every person on the server. Didn't see anything higher than 60ms after trying a bunch of times.

The ping command goes in your Windows command prompt not the game console. Note that you will have to manually stop the ping command if you use -t with ctrl+c or pause it with ctrl+break. If it works correctly you should start to see a bunch of pings, the "time" is what you're interested in. It should become apparent quite quickly if you are getting ping spikes but I would think that if this were your issue it would show up on net_graph too.

Ok so I tried that and let it run for a minute and it always stayed at 30ms (31 once).
Or do I have to let it run in the background while on a server?

Phoenix21check if you have packet loss

I will try that and report back. Just use net_graph 1, right?

SpongeDoes your game stutter when you repeatedly open the scoreboard? I had the same problem but restarting my computer fixed it.

Doesn't seem like it as anything to do with the scoreboard. I mean I do open it a bunch, but not excessively and it doesn't seem to get better/worse the more I open it.

ComangliaRentQNThis has been getting worse with the most recent update, but I've been having this issue for a while now.
The game runs at 200+ FPS and I have a ping below 50 on most servers, but for some reason the game doesn't really feel smooth at all.
I have those micro stutters where the game kinda freezes for like a fraction of a second.
In the best cases I get those stutters every 5 to 10 seconds, but sometimes it's more like every 1 to 2 seconds or more and the game looks like a flip-book.

I don't really have any idea what might cause this problem.
I didn't really change anything about my system that I can think of.
Same HUD, config and mods I've been using without issues for over a month.
Tried verifying integrity of game cache, but that didn't help.
I don't have anything running in the background that might cause this either.

Are there any known fixes for this kinda problem?
Don't really know where to start trying to fix this, because I have no idea what causes it and it could be like a hundred different things :(

what kind of cpu temps do you have?

Do you use a FPS cap?

I've experience this issue in 2 different ways, FPS caps for some reason on gaming laptop from 6 years ago, and on a few other PCs were the cpu temps would fluctuate from 80c to 60c.

CPU rarely even goes above 45c. Not using a FPS cap except the 300 one that MM enforces for some reason.

Gemmellnesstry running the command

"ping -t www.google.com"

if you're on windows. ive seen this issue before if you're on wifi, where basically no packets transfer for a fraction of a second every few seconds and all action in game stops. if that sounds like what you're having, you should be able to catch them with that ping command. note that it pings every second so it'll likely take a few cycles to catch it, and you should be able to see a spike to 200ms. net_graph 3/4 should also show a fat hole in the graph too i think

I'll give that a go. Just for clarification: is this a test to see if there are problems with my internet connection or is a fix for bad internet?
I'm not on wifi btw.

#13 Windows 10 anniversary update boosts FPS in Customization

About the question if win10 gives better FPS than win7:
I recently upgraded to win10 (with the anniversary update) from win7 and my FPS with the benchmark stayed pretty much exactly the same.
Same result with a clean install of win10.
So win10 with anniversary update might give you better FPS than win10 without the update, but not better FPS than win7.
At least that was the case for my PC.

#356 TF2 benchmarks in TF2 General Discussion
d to load sound "vo\medic_painsharp07.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository
2639 frames 15.293 seconds 172.57 fps ( 5.79 ms/f) 11.765 fps variability

CPU: i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 750Ti
8GB RAM
Res: 1920x1080
FPS config: Comaglia's cfg with mat_picmip 0, reduced explosions.

Do you think those FPS are ok for my setup?
I kinda feel like some people with similar setups get more FPS than that.

How do I get a beta key?
FACEITSTATS doesn't work for some reason.
Changed region to us on game settings page, but not sure if it only works for CSGO, because the region thing is right under CSGO on the page (my only game on faceit).

#6 How to upgrade my PC to get better FPS in TF2? in Hardware
SetsulRentQNis there a CPU that would give me a significant performance boostWhat do you consider significant?RentQNbut doesn't cost a fortuneDefine fortune. Expect 200€ for the same performance.RentQNand if at all possible fits on my current MB?If we're counting your overclock all other options that fit are slower, unless you overclock them. And in that case why not just overclock the one you already got further?

Which cooler?

Also you did not overclock it from 3.4 to 4.0. You overclocked it from 3.8 to 4.0. You definitely don't need the best cooler to get more than that. 4.5 are easily possible.

Do you really want more fps? Since you chose not to run it at 4.2 even though you could tells me otherwise.
I'm also not sure what you expected that 5% higher clockrate would get you. If you want more than +5% fps +5% clockrate probably won't be enough. 5% higher clockrate won't magically get you 300% more fps.

I'm positive that my CPUs default speed is 3.4, not 3.8. When I disable OC in my BIOS it goes to 3.4.

My cooler is called "ARCTIC Freezer 7 Rev. 2".

Thanks for your reply. I'll try to OC to 4.4GHz or higher once I get home.

#4 How to upgrade my PC to get better FPS in TF2? in Hardware
NoobKYour best prize/performance option would be to buy a good cooler and overclock your CPU.

I already have it OCed to 4.0 from 3.4GHz. My cooler isn't the best, but far better than boxed and I think even with the best cooler more than 4GHz might not be very stable and 0.2 or 0.4GHz more wouldn't be that big of a performance boost I think.
I ran it at 4.2GHz for a bit and the increase in FPS was minimal (temperatur was still ok, so it didn't clock down or whatever you call it).
