Help, he messaged me.

#45 Autoexec not working. in Q/A Help

I don't know how I should feel about someone signing up just to dig up a thread from the graveyard with a problem that was solved almost 8 years ago that gets necro'd every couple of years, because he found a different solution.
I mean on one hand it's nice having them all in one thread, on the other hand it's not really a good solution (or any solution at all for most) and we should really let the dead rest in peace.

dipp_In these clips, the medic was aware of the soldier and I don't think their movement was "bad".

A medic can juke/dodge/surf a soldier using rockets, while with the spoon, there's practically nothing anyone can do about it except pop or drop.

All I'm seeing are scout misplays.
First one the scout could easily bodyblock but pussies out and uses his doublejump to get out of the way at the last second because his life is more important than the medic's.
Second one the scout pasta brains away from the medic because "I must kill" and surprise, when the soldier just jumps over him he needs way too long to get back and kill the soldier. Is it dumb that a soldier who shot all his rockets can kill a medic in that time? Yes. Could that scout have prevented it? Also yes. Hell, even the demo could've hit that pipe earlier. Both clearly qualify as "anyone".
Third one the scout is far enough away from the medic that the soldier has enough time to fire at least two rockets after spooning the medic. Walking backwards in a straight line also might not have been the best choice when he saw the meme spoon coming.

90% of all counterplay to bombs comes from the team. If they ignore the roamer then the medic will die/be forced unless he starts pulling some pro MGE moves. Surfs can't save you forever.
The team can also prevent meme spoon bombs just fine. Yes, it's a annoying that the roamer can do with 1 rocket for a jump what he'd usually need at least 2 for, but on the other hand he needs to get into melee range so it's not that bad.
However what little counterplay options the medic has short of stopping the heals and pulling out the crossbow, which would get him yelled at, pretty much disappear, so it's not fun at all for medics.

tl;dr pocket scout needs to get his shit together if a soldier can get into melee range of the medic*

*Yes, there's a risk vs reward tradeoff if you want to play aggressively. Who would've thought?

Boring idea: If it's something that only happens when you move the mouse, maybe the cable is fucked.

Gritomawould you feel better about the iron bomber if the other launchers had their pipe hitboxes actually encompass the projectile?

is it that the iron bombers too easy to hit, or is it that it trumps the alternatives by default?

I live in fear of "fixed" loose cannon.

MaehemI don't think anyone could have seen it getting this bad though, it was hard to know at the time so many people in RGL were so inclined to keep hollow promises.

I did in fact warn you all that it would become a shitshow sooner or later. My specific example was the whitelist, not maps and general rules, but I think you can clearly tell that I was not having high hopes. Here's my exact words:

SetsulIt's like putting Iran in charge of enforcing the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. It might work, but I really wouldn't recommend it if there's any other option.
[...] having a paid league that may or may not force unpopular ruleset changes, just for the sake of having a paid league?

"No one could've seen this coming", says man who was warned but believed that surely it would never get that bad.

scrambledah yes, arbritrary categories that lump hitting your spec bind in the same group as installing actual cheats mean that this decision is perfectly justified

While bugs/exploits only get you a warning. I mean that could happen to anyone, unlike maliciously joining spec. That requires some preparation.

zx37i just hope you understand it is easier to influence a well-implemented community league than it is to overthrow and replace an existing league that does not generally listen to its community.

Yes, that is kind of the point of moving to a community league.

You also make it sound like RGL is holding all players hostage at gunpoint and requires a well-planned and executed violent coup to remove.
It's like five guys who meet once every friday to discuss bans, they can't hurt you.

zx37i wish as much as anyone that we could migrate to a new league but its not as easy as just saying "hey guys lets all go play in UGC!"

It literally is, you just need to actually do it instead of just suggesting it then folding a week later with the same old "it can't be helped because b4nny".

I've never seen a community wallow in self-pity for their perceived powerlessness for so long.

zx37SetsulIf everyone else moved do you think he wouldn't?yes we are going to organize a mass migration of all other 179 teams so that banny will

Did you literally just say "we can't move to a different league because we'd have to move to a different league"?

mustardoverlordSetsulOk but why? Who is forcing you to do that?
would you want to play in a league without the best team?

what if the other top 2-3 teams don't follow because they also want to keep testing themselves against froyo?

Because it doesn't affect 90% of the player base?

And the top 3 teams argument is still the same "b4nny said so". If everyone else moved do you think he wouldn't? If the top team doesn't play in the league you're playing in for a season does the scene collapse? I know for a fact that it didn't in europe.

mustardoverlordrgl has one thing that keeps people playing it no matter what: it's the league that froyotech is in

whatever league the top 1-2 teams choose to play in will be the league of choice, there's just no avoiding that reality

I'm getting some real abusive relationship vibes here.

If a free league can provide a better service than a paid league the obvious solution seems to be to invest that money in donations for a prize pool, not to hope that the paid league will improve their service after failing to do so for years.

I genuinely have to question what you're paying for at this point.

The NA community seems to have this weird masochistic streak where they can't take a league seriously until it has bent them over and fucked them in the ass at least three times to show them it's a real "business" and when anyone who prefers to remained unfucked suggest a different league it's shouted down with the usual war cries of "we can't split the community" and "there'd be no prize pool".
