#82 7HUD in Customization

v4!

- Total MvM revamp!
- Inspect panels (spec + in-game) moved right
- Added new font for many menus
- Added option to press “e” to get past MOTD and map info dialog
- Minor color alterations
- Fixed low ammo BG not going away and positioning
- Bunch of random placement fixes
- Revamped scoreboard and background options!
- More 3D model positions!

4:3 resolution fixes, tournament mode enhancements on the way in the next update. Oh, and if I haven't gone over it too much already, you really need 4Plug to use the extra options like changing the HUD's positioning, changing the position of the 3D model, scoreboard backgrounds etc.

I hate leaving things undone but I ran into a problem that can't be fixed in my quest to optimize MvM. The problem with ping requires that I widen the player list by over 100 pixels to be able to see the ping. This causes the ping to clip badly with the credit panel (it goes halfway through that panel), so no small shift of any element would do the trick. What's more is that it's not fixable. In the regular scoreboard you can adjust the individual widths of the player names, scores, pings, classes etc instead of widening/thinning the whole list. It's not so in MvM: you either widen or thin the whole thing. Plus if I widen it the 105 pixels needed to see the ping, that takes up over 2/3 of my 1080 pixel width on my desktop. This probably already takes out of play anybody on a laptop as it will simply not fit.

Sorry for the long explanation, but like I said hate leaving things undone. But for the reasons above I have to leave the player list how it is. I highly recommend checking the readme where I explain how to set up a nice, minimal net graph so you can see your own ping, FPS, and other network info.

Sorry for the inconvenience, however this update is still going to be pretty awesome ;)

Rawrerr guys, is it fine if you guys don't post here if you're not contributing to the thread? Trying to keep the thread clean and concise, Thanks

Sorry, main just seems so knowledgeable.

main_giSevinSo I can't change any of the player stats individually? That's ridiculous then my scoreboard is broken.Mine's broken too, even the fonts are screwed up. The image I cited was the one before the Two Cities patch that fixed the custom HUD crash.

Your spacing looks a lot smaller than mine though. That's too bad that it won't work.

main_giSevinIs the ping for the MVM scoreboard in mvmcreditsubpanel.res ?It comes from mvmscoreboard.res, and it's a fixed container. You can see the ping if you increase 'wide' enough in the MvMPlayerList.

Hmm, that never worked for me. There was nothing I was supposed to add to it from the Two Cities update?

EDIT: I'm stupid, that worked. Don't know what I was doing earlier. But now the ping goes way out over my bounds so I need to shrink the distance between each element but I don't know how to do that either.

I'm not sure how to fix the mini sentry looking like that, I actually kinda like it.

EDIT: Dre can you actually turn all your MVM fixes into a nice GitHub issue so I can review it easier?

Another quick update:

I remembered I can simulate resolutions via the launch options in Steam, so I've managed to fix some of your problems Dre. I'm gonna be making a sweep the next few days trying to find some problems areas for 4:3 users and add a 4:3 version of the HUD when I'm done. I may even be able to just add it as an option in 4Plug to make it 4:3, makes it quite simple.

Guys, I need your help in deciding something real quick:

I've been dissatisfied with my Market Deco font I've been using as the main for some time. I think it looks really good in some situations, but not when it must be big. For this reason, I've gotten a new main font called Neutra (I hope no one else is using this). I like the font, but my main concern is that it's too bold. Here is the loadout panel with the new font:

http://i.imgur.com/mPyzHpH.png

There are 3 versions of this font, the one for the "Loadout", "Stats" and "Demoman" labels is the biggest, boldest, all-caps version. The label of the actual items are another version that is also big and bold but has subtle lowercases. And the thinnest (though still fairly thick), is seen in the passive attributes section below the character. It's quite a bit thinner than the others and has lowercases.

I'd love to hear everyone's opinions, please let me know!

Thanks a lot for the feedback Dre!

MVM is something I haven't really cared about until the new MVM update because I never play it. I really appreciate all the reports. I can already tell you that the damage flash around the crosshair is already possible and integrated into my HUD. I assume you're talking about fog's crosshairs BTW, as that's the one that has this integration.

I guess I forgot to add the instructions in the readme however, so I'll update it with instructions when I finish here.

Navigate to your scripts folder and open up HudAnimations_tf.txt. The first entry should be DamagedPlayer. There are instructions underneath there.

Thanks again for your bug findings :D

Went ahead and added instructions for fixing your own scoreboard.

I think scoreboard ping issues are dependent on your res, not os. I have checked on both my partitions and everything looks good on my scoreboards.

If anybody is having major problems with the scoreboard, I'll update the readme with instructions on how to fix that yourself because this is dependent on your own resolution.
