#13 GXL in LAN Discussion
DoctorMiggyTheFragileMany people still ask me about when the next GXL LAN is, so I want to update everyone about what's going on with it.

Without going into too much detail, GXL is on an indefinite hiatus. Maybe it's done for good, maybe it'll come back later. Not really sure.

However, most of the staff from GXL are teaming up to start something new. A lot of these guys were essential parts to GXL, so whatever this new LAN they will be having will be great. Whenever they announce more details on what they will be called and their next events, I'll post it here. Due to having a new name, it may take a little bit of time to get traction for the size of their LANs, but we'll see what the response is out of the gates.

I'm good friends with the guys who are starting this new thing, but I'm still deciding on if I want to be their tournament director due to being really busy as of late. Regardless, once they hold a LAN of decent size, I'll make sure that a TF2 tournament will be taken care of with someone capable from the TF2 community. That's assuming there is still a desire for a tournament, which I'm sure there will be.

I don't have an ETA for this new LAN. I also don't know any other details about GXL other than it's on an indefinite hiatus. What I can tell you is that as of right now, GXL is not happening this year. Sorry if this disappointing to the many that have looked forward to this every year.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here.

I already spoke with one of your staffers on facebook.
If you guys ever want to do something down in Florida let me know as I would love to collaborate on making an amazing lan.

Hmm it seems now the mainly TF2 based LAN now for the year is Flan now, it certainly is saddening to hear that GXL isn't happening this year but maybe now the GXL traffic can be diverted to FLan for this year? Would that be a plausible idea?

About fucking time the gambling sites are taken down. I don't believe it to affect the trading community as a whole but definitely will fuck over lots of people...

#1412 PC Build Thread in Hardware
deguhey, finaly build for myself

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K
CPU Cooler: SilentiumPC Grandis XE1236
MB: GIGABYTE Z170-HD3P - Intel Z170
RAM: Kingston HyperX Savage Black 8GB DDR4 3000
Case: NZXT S340
PSU: CORSAIR CX Builder Series Modular 600W

Price: 16 592 CZK (615 €)
Shop: https://www.czc.cz/

Budget: 17 000 CZK (630 €)
I will be reusing my HDDs and GPU (unless i find out integrated one is better then my HD 6850 witch i plan to replace later)
Is in this price category and with this CPU worth going with water cooling (eg NZXT Kraken X31 is in budget) when i'm planning to overclock?
I know could get a cheaper case but i want to invest a bit into aesthetics

Thanks for any feedback or advice!

Honestly its a up to you to decide if its worth it. If you are planning to overclock, then yes, watercooling will help. Keep in mind water cooling can get pricey from all the parts you need such as fittings, radiators, blocks, etc.

#1387 PC Build Thread in Hardware
KaptainI only plan on using 1 GPU. So as for ATX vs µATX, I suppose µATX is more convenient since I wouldn't use the extra space anyway, but if you'd say ATX (/ a larger case in that case, I suppose) is cheaper / better airflow / better for whatever reason, I'm fine with that aswell.

I was planning on building it very soon, as in, somewhere around the next few weeks.

I was thinking about €750-850 or so (without the GPU obviously), not sure if that's enough though. I can go over it if necessary but preferably not.

Definitely should be good with that price point. And the size of the motherboard also depends on what you'd be using it for. Do you want to build a home system that never moves? Are you planning on transporting this PC to LANs and such?

ATX or µATX doesn't affect GPU length, only the number of GPUs. How many do you plan on using?

How soon are you building?

RAM brands don't matter, only specs do.

Rough ballpark figure for how much you'd be willing to spend?

Keep In mind that APPARENTLY now CAS latency for ram affects it's compatibility with certain motherboards.... WHHHHYYYYYY.

Nahh you don't need that appendix. It don't do nothing. You'll be goooood.

On a serious note, get well soon. Been through several several surgeries myself. Usually goes by pretty fast( cause you know, you aren't awake and all that).

#1 LFT Mid-Open Scout/Medic in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hello everyone. My name is ShdSteel and I am currently looking for a serious team to be on. My experience includes 1 season of UGC Steel as scout, 1 ESEA open season as scout, and 2 ESEA seasons as Medic. I have just over 2200 hours on TF2, and my competitive experience started when I had only 500 hours.

Ideally I'd like to find a team to play with in the mid-open range ideally. The most important thing though, however, is that id like to find a team that is quite dedicated in playing. I tend to be on the PC a lot nowadays so I'm open to scrim/review/practice whenever for however long others would like. Another key quality Id prefer is that I find a team that's very active on a daily basis. I'm available 24 hours a day and can plan my schedule around the team's.

I'm more than able to pay for myself when it comes to fees and if need be, get the team a server to use. If you have an open spot feel free to at least add me to discuss tryouts. My steam is https://steamcommunity.com/id/google97

I'm just now returning from a much needed hiatus of video games during the month of June and would like to start back up ASAP! Thanks for looking and I hope to be a valuable asset in your next season of open.

Preferably to start training now for season 23!

#11 Flying with desktop. in Off Topic

Which LAN? :P also I've flown with sensitive hardware before and have used pelican cases to do so. Only thing to watch out for (of course) is that gpu due to it being a heavy item on a thin strip connected to the motherboard. Like others have said, take out that gpu!

#67 NVidia GTX1080 and 1070 have been launched in Hardware
brownymasterI really hope that an AIB actually sells the 1080 for $600. Might finally have a reason to overclock my 4790k.

Also, I might wait for Polaris though considering AIB's aren't releasing on the 27th. I'm hoping Computex reveals something about Polaris, as I can wait for Vega/1080Ti if Polaris is a $200-$300 card that's better than the 1070, then upgrade to the HBM2 ram chips next year (Vive is likely coming this week and I'm still on a 760 GTX). Don't have my hopes up that much though.

You'll definitely see AIBs at computex. So that's a good thing.
