They're having TF2 "contests".
Not sure what that means, maybe they could have a mini-MGE tournaments, but it doesn't sound like a true TF2 tournament.

If a new league has a buy-in that's close to ESEA that can help it build a prizepool. That and sponsor money could help promote the league.
If you make a LAN in Boston (PAX East?) or New York, you could fly-in Euros for cheaper than most places in the U.S.
You MUST purchase a PAX East badge before purchasing BYOC. When accompanied by a PAX Badge, this badge entitles you to a reserved space to set up your own computer in our PC area. You won't need this if you just want to bring a laptop and hang out somewhere, but if you want bring in your gaming computer and have your own spot in our private BYOC area specifically for LAN gaming, that's where this badge comes in.
Are there going to be TF2 events?
In the grand scheme of things, it really wouldn't cost much for a sponsor to support a LAN and a TF2 community league and provide a better service than ESEA.
Now, when I say "wouldn't cost much" I still envision in the $100k+ for league employees and LAN prizes and the like, because there is a lot of behind the scenes work that makes those things happen. But provide a $10k+ prize pool and you'd see all the Invite teams who cared play it.
Is this something feasible for the TF2 community? Can those people who already sponsor find more people with dough?
I guess the answer is NO, but, maybe while twitch.tv and competitive gaming get bigger maybe TF2 can find some better opportunities for sponsors (in the trickle-down economics kind of way).
Also, while I'm dreaming, an American LAN in New York or Boston would provide a chance for Europeans to more easily fly over here to fight on U.S. soil. That could be something worth sponsoring too.
Please come back, tf2lobby. You were just becoming fun to play.
Congrats to ESEA for finally having a 9 team Invite.
Or just: http://webchat.gamesurge.net/?channels=tf2.pug.nahl,tf2mix,tf2.pug.na
add a channel after that list if you want more.
crespiIt also heals much faster tha the medigun and kritz. I could be wrong, but I believe kritz and medigun heal at 24 hp/s when not under crit-heals, whereas the quick fix heals at ~30 hp/s before crit-heals. It's a significant advantage in fights where keeping people alive is a priority.
I'm not sure about this either, but I think that the hp/s crit heal cap is higher on quick fix, as in > 72hp/s. I tried to verify this by looking at the wiki but it won't load.
That's kind of the point to the Quick Fix and I'm okay with it--although it could be lowered slightly as another nerf. Uber and Kritz are still effective in some situations due to that higher max health. But you don't want to pile on too many nerfs if you were to attempt to balance things.
I'm late to the party/no one cares but some things people have hinted at but haven't come right out and said:
1. We all know how much Valve cares about competitive TF2. Thus, we can argue all we want about what nerf the Quick-Fix should get but Valve probably won't do anything. It's not unbalanced in pubs where sentries and heavies are a dime-a-dozen.
I'm newish to comp TF2 so I don't know if there's a precedent for Valve nerfing a weapon just to keep competitive happy. In fact--there's the opposite with the Equalizer/Escape Plan nerfing.
2. The fact that Quick-Fix always builds at the same rate is probably a bug/oversight. I'm not sure they realized that the build rate is based on max health at 150% rather than 125%. It should be scaled based on that gun's max health. Or at least, that's what I hope. This would help nerf it a bit and make regular Uber a better counter to it, since QF won't build as fast. That and a few other smaller nerfs could bring the Quick-Fix back in line with the other guns, but testing would help with this.
buckweetI agree, made a post before the newbiemixes today with a similar flavor.
Although, tonight I had a great group of n00bs. Could be that I asked the admin to give me the most inexperienced group he could. Ended up being a 2-3 on process.
I was in that game! Thanks for the coaching it was my first time roaming in a mix after playing a bunch of lobbies. My DM is getting better as soldier.
My biggest beef with Newbie Mixes lately is that waiting for a mix is a long process filled with tons of young gamer Mumble spam. I wish there was a way to mute everyone except the admins so I could only get the necessary draft calls. If you mute the whole channel you're liable to miss the actual draft. I just don't want to put up with that while I'm doing other things waiting for a mix.

What about the Root team?
Yeah, they're not on the ESEA Invite league page? Did they just not get added by Killing yet?
