tonythetigerwhy are the grand finals so early? surely you wanna maximise viewers and it's gonna be like 6 - 9am in america
finals arent gonna be on the multiplay stage so we arent even restricted by them
surely 4pm would be a better time
edit: apparently its because some players have to fly home on the sunday
The grand finals last year were at 5am American Eastern Time, this is way better. The lower finals were played on Saturday last year too. The grand finals start at ~9am ET this year at least.
This whole thread is a meta joke about how silly this gamemode is and how it's not the competitive update. I hope.
MaxHaxHas anybody else been getting the not connected to rocket league servers error any time they try to play online? I haven't been able to play once because of this.
Not I. Possible fix here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/252950/discussions/0/537402115081001729/
I started playing this Thursday after seeing it on Twitch. Love it, this brings me back to some old school video games that were reminiscent of ball sports like soccer/football but adapted for the game's genre. Netrek Hockey, Infantry Soccer, Subspace Soccer.
One of the theories on Spotify's poor shuffling is that it resets the random seed every time you interact with Spotify. Therefore if you are constantly moving between playlists or looking at stuff within the app, your shuffle may be less random than it should be.

There was a link on their Advanced Lobbies announcement page directly to the manual application page
I played 2 6v6 lobbies with good comms that weren't a completely roll and were moderately competitive and had some fun moments. Sounds like fun 6v6 TF2 to me.
If we are invited into the Advanced Lobbies beta, would we have gotten an e-mail by now? How do we know we're in?
Obiaim-no one in their right mind will pay 2 keys just to try in a lobbyExactly, which raises the question of how long people will have to wait for 11 like minded people to fill up the lobbies.
...
Edit 2: why not take a page from pug.me and have captain lobbies for highlander and 6s and call them the advanced lobbies.
A captain lobby for randoms is pretty much the worst idea ever. You think somehow that is better than an algorithm with a bunch of stats?
You under-estimate how many people play tf2center, it is 9:30am US East Coast and there are 500 people listed on the website. There are 4 UK Highlander lobbies that are not started just waiting for players. A queue system for Advanced Lobbies may limit the herpy-derpy lobbies that spend 15-30 minutes waiting for 1 medic or other random class because it will combine the multiple lobby queues into 1.
I've seen 6v6 tf2center lobbies fill up in 2 minutes--it's way more popular than you seem to think.
eeeas far as i can see, there's no real reason to play ALs if you're interested in getting better :\
like if they're captain based, the best players are always going to get picked anyway, if they are algorithmic or whatev, then they'll run into problems of player size OR player class selection (200 people across 3 continents isn't enough to make an MM system that works)
For me, it's not about getting better at TF2 it's just about playing a fun game. I don't have time to devote to joining a team, scrimming etc because I'm older and try to play other games and do other things in the world. I usually enjoy playing TF2 in 6v6 format because it can be a tense and competitive experience when people generally know what they're doing and the teams are relatively balanced. But rolls and playing around complete newbies isn't fun, nor is trying to play anything other than medic vs. people in ESEA high open or above.
I realize I'm posting to the watering hole of the best of TF2 but just trying to give you a perspective from a casual player who enjoys watching and mostly enjoys playing 6v6 but doesn't have time to be part of a team. I'm looking forward to Advanced Lobbies if the balance system works and provides a more enjoyable atmosphere. Casual 6v6 is very fun--that's why MM may finally happen--it doesn't need to be the highest quality TF2 to be enjoyable.
eeei asked a month ago why I'd want to play this instead of tf2pug.me and I never got a response
someone please help explain?
There's no guarantee a tf2pug.me is going to balanced. Captains mostly just pick the best team they can from the people they know/see, it could be that 1 captain is simply better than another at picking.
One of the goals of advanced lobbies is a balancing system. Also depending on how it works you're not going to get fatkidded (maybe the advanced lobby queues up more than 12, in which case i'm wrong).
I'd rather enter an advanced lobby, be guaranteed to play the class I want with a balanced group of players who really want to play than wait around in tf2pug.me for it to start and MAYBE get picked. Also if tf2pug.me is mostly esea open/+ crowd, and advanced lobbies are ugc and esea open- than it's simply another place for a subset of the tf2 community to play. Sometimes you'd rather UGC try-hard than ESEA try-hard in a lobby.
crossfirepug.me should add a scrim finding feature to the site
There's already http://scrim.me/ but it doesn't look like it is frequented it by the ESEA crowd? Shame, it's got the same sort of interface I dreamed up when I was a team leader.
Another dirty bomb tournament this weekend. Team listing includes "tf2 is an esport" and "srsly br0 (cozen)". http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/4xetepiiFn
Open Beta starts next tuesday.
